R.A. Dickey will be the latest Met to be honored at the 32nd Annual Thurman Munson awards. Hall of Famer Yogi Berra and current Yankee Mark Teixeira along with former NBA and St. John’s star Chris Mullin will also be honored.
Past Mets to receive the honor include Angel Pagan, Mike Piazza, Tom Seaver, John Franco, Darryl Strawberry, Ron Darling, David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Keith Hernandez, Rusty Staub and Gary Carter.

It was surreal to me when I heard the news. I always found Thurm to be a likeable Yankee. Over the recent years here we’ve tossed around the word gritty to describe players. Sometimes in seriousness, sometimes in jest. Mr. Munson was the definition of gritty, and tough. A clutch pro.
