There have been about 57 MLB players (minus 1 or 2 still pending physicals) signed to a Major League contract so far this off season. Out of those 57 the position that has been in most demand thus far is “Relief Pitching” with 12 players. The position in least demand? 3rd Base with 1 player.
Out of the 57 contracts signed so far 13 go to double digits in the millions column and 2 go to triple digits which you can view here.
Below is a quick break down of each position and the dollars spent per position so far.

So based on what the Padres got from the Reds, I would think the Mets should be able to get the top catching prospect from the Rockies + another blue chipper. Thoughts?

Well Latos is a much much more valuable player but I would have been happy with just Grandal for Niese.
If i can get Wilin Rosario and let’s say Alex White or another pitching prospect then gotta make that move…

That was a big time haul that the Padres got. I do agree that Niese is not worth quite as much, and I’m not a proponent of trading him, but if they do they should get a close to ready catching prospect, a pitcher to replace him in the rotation, and another highly rated prospect.
