So Which MLB Team Has Given It’s Fans The Best Xmas So Far?

With Christmas a few days away Here is a look at how much Xmas-dollars teams have committed so far toward new contracts.

Seems weird to see the Marlins toward the top of the list in Total dollars spent so far and a team like the Yankees near the bottom. Of course dollars spent don’t tell the whole story as far as what teams have done so far this off season. Along with signing free agents there are trades as well to take into account and players that accepted arbitration.

Looking at all the categories you get a better picture on what teams have done so far. If your looking for the team that has added the most players in these categories then the Diamondbacks lead the way with 10 players added so far.

Arizona Diamonbacks Players added:

  1. McDonald, John, SS
  2. Blanco, Henry, C
  3. Bloomquist, Willie, IF
  4. Hill, Aaron, 2B
  5. Overbay, Lyle, 1B
  6. Breslow, Craig, RP
  7. Cahil, Trevor, SP
  8. Albaladejo, Jonathan, RP
  9. Saito, Takashi, RP
  10. Kubel, Jason, OF

The team that has added the least? I know what your thinking, the Mets but jokes aside it is the Braves with zero so far.

Here is a look at what MLB teams have added so far in the areas of free agency, trades and arbitration as of 12/20/2011. See who you think has had the best haul of players so far overall. I know the popular choice is the Marlins and the Angels and you can’t go wrong with those but a team that I would put in behind them maybe the Padres when we look back at this off season. Just a thought.

    Great Work…

The one team that stands out is LA $42m on a lot caulk.

Rob Johnson doesn’t put the Mets toward the tops of any of the lists?

Still LOL at the Marlins.  IMO, this comes back to bite Loria but then again, I think he’ll be long gone by the time some of those heavily back loaded contracts kick in.

Still think though concerning owners, Wilpons will be the next to go.  If they don’t get those investors and infusion of cash, the organization might be broke by opening day.  Even if they do get that infusion of cash, I don’t think the revenues are going to be anywhere near where they need to be at the end of 2012 in order for them to fund 2013.

If and when they sell it will take some time to get new ownership in. The good thing is since the team is in NY, it should be quicker than most teams. Lots of debt is coming with this team, so I imagine some special tricks will have to be used to get someone to take it on. Patience…

I still say that a big reason MLB is propping them up is not selig and fred being BFFs, but rather they want to avoid the mess of the team itelf declaring BK (the dodgers were solvent, it was Mccournt in BK).

If that happens, and the team gets tied up in a BK proceeding, who knows what happens.

Very plausible. If Wilpon’s pull out the for sale sign without BK, then your theory will be correct.

I hope so anyway, I am really tired of all the drama and just want to move on.
