First off, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. I hope today is a start of a great year for all of you. I also want to express my thanks to all the writers and readers of TRDM Blog.
Let’s get down to baseball shall we? Do you think the Wilpons will still own the Mets this time next year?

Honestly I think their tenure will either end late this year or early next one

No way. Just look at the numbers on their debt! Even SNY is a few hundred million in the red. Yes, Bud Selig is being so much more lenient with the Mets than the Dodgers, but it’s getting so ridiculous with the Wilpons right now that Selig will eventually be forced to make them sell.

Happy New Year to you, Gonzo.
I think this is the beginning of the end for the Wilpons as the Mets owners. If they’re not already out by end of this season, they probably will be in the process of selling the team or will have declared bankruptcy and possibly MLB takes over until it’s sold.
Either way – and no offense Sandy but…….I can’t wrap my brain around the 2012 team being ‘fun to watch’. More like the entire season is dominated by what’s going on off field while we struggle to stay out of last place.

Happy new year!
I think the current ownership group will eventually be forced to sell, but I don’t think we’ll be lucky enough to have it be a quick process. My prediction is that Fred, Jeff & Saul will still be around in 2013.

I don’t know, but their situation sounds pretty grim what with them taking more loans out to make other debt payments. That’s usually a death spiral kinda thing. However, the Mets always find a way to do exactly the wrong things and make us miserable, so they’ll probably still own the team well into 2013. Such a sad excuse for a franchise.
