From today’s New York Daily News
“The Mets are not a new franchise anymore,” Kranepool adds. “They were starving for baseball then. Now this club has proven it can be a winner and it’s disintegrated. They’re not as forgiving as they were ( the fans), tickets are more expensive and there’s more exposure. I want these Mets to win too I hope they get well in a hurry”
Are you listening Fred ?
And with that said…. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!
Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:
Middle reliever from the ’81 season, Mike Marshall is 69 (1943).
Mets hitting coach from ’97-’00 ( and again in ’02), Tom Robson is 66 (1946).
Reserve second baseman from the ’77 season, Luis Alvarado would have been 63 today (1949). Luis only played in one game as a Met.
The New York Mets traded outfielder, George Altman to the Chicago Cubs for utility man, Billy Cowan on January 15, 1965.
The New York Yankees signed middle reliever, John Candelaria of the New York Mets as a free agent on January 15, 1988.
The Toronto Blue Jays signed shortstop, Dick Schofield of the New York Mets as a free agent on January 15, 1993. Dick spent one season with the Mets, batting .205 with 4 homers and 36 RBIs.
The Chicago Cubs signed middle reliever, Mark Guthrie of the New York Mets as a free agent on January 15, 2003.
The New York Mets signed free agent outfielder, Willie Harris of the Washington Nationals on January 15, 2011. Willie might have been a clubhouse leader for last seasons team, but he really didn’t distinguish himself on the field.
Mo Vaughn is hoping the Giants makes fondue out of the Packers – Mo loves fondue !!!

a few years from now, this will all be a distant memory!
Really though, things can change quickly in MLB. look at even 2000-2006. WS, to dismal, to 1 shit away from being in the WS again.

Or 2006 to 2011.
I’m not getting any younger though. Wish they’d step it up a bit.

Why you said Mr. Kranepool.
I always like hearing our older retired ball players talk as if they’re still fans of the team.
