I understand wanting to see a serious WS contending team every year, but it doesn’t happen. You have up years and down years. Just happen to be in a rough phase right now, so you ride it out.
And any Mets baseball is better than looking at the ice on my driveway.
I just have to SMH at some of the whiners on some sites. Yes we all know the Wilpons still own the team, and that the team has money issues. And they aren’t going to win 95 games this year. So just grow up, and accept reality. Or leave.
but man, some of the complaining is just ridiculous. And the biggest laugh is all these people screaming how “met fans deserve better, big payroll, etc.”
Well, these are the same folks that refuse to spend a dime on the team whenever they aren’t doing fantastic. So why should the owners spend big $$ knowing that the fans will bail at the first sign of trouble?
Other cities (including, sadly, Philly) such as St. Louis, Chicago, and hell probably KC have fan bases that stick with the team at least.
I honestly don’t give a crap who owns the team, as long as the teams finances get straightened out, and they can focus on actually building talent and winning games.
I’m glad someone else has said this. I always see schlock along the lines of “Freddie and Jeffie couponzie are broak and we as fans have to suffer”, and that just isn’t right. You have the right not to attend games or buy merchandise. It’s nice to think that the Mets care what we think but I don’t see how it is their concern about our emotions in the comfort of our own homes.

It’s the Mets. Reason enough for me.

Same here. It’s my Mets and I’m not a casual fan. Or is that ‘bandwagon’ fan?

I’ll be watching because I love baseball and my Mets. That’s all a fan should really need, in my opinion.

I can relate with many of the sentiments here but in all honesty it wasn’t the reaction I was expecting.
I was aiming for additions to reasons like watching Ike hit one clear over the Shea Bridge.
