I literally just cried after trying to hold it in on the drive home. My wife can’t believe she just renewed her vows. I don’t cry, in 12 years she has seen me cry twice before. I didn’t cry when the kids were born or when the cat died, but I cried for Carter.
He was MY GUY. In 85 when I really started watching baseball I gravitated to him just because we had the same name and I was stuck on him ever since. As I grew up I’ve gotten autographs, read his book (I never read books either), got the Cooperstown newspaper through ebay that was printed the day of the HOF ceremony, and I even got this 50lb steel Shea Staduim section sign and got section 8. #8 is even in all of my passwords… Of all the people in the world that could of gotten sick like this, he was the wrong guy. I am ill.

It sucks I wasn’t a baseball fan early enough to see the Kid play for the Mets. Seeing that clip of him running out to the mound after the final out in 86 is pure joy.
Rest in peace, Gary.

I was not old enough to root for gary but seeing videos of the 86 mets was enough to know he was a heck of a player. RIP and condolences to his family.
