Just heard you the Happy Recap Rusty. I agree with the retiring the number discussion. Taking nothing away from what Carter did to help the Mets win I feel that the retiring of a number should also take into account the length of a players tenure with the team.
While I would not oppose it and actually celebrate the event at the same time a part of me would feel that it was only being done due to his passing.
Anyway if they do retire Carter’s 8 then I would hope Keith’s 17 would also soon follow as Strawberry’s 18 and Gooden’s 16.
I love the idea of the statue by the way.
