It looks like Jonathon Niese has a new nose. According to Deadspin “Niese said the nose job made it easier for him to breathe, and do cardio in the offseason…” Hopefully he doesn’t suffer the same fate Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey did after she had a nose job.

Jennifer Grey is the daughter of Joel Grey. Joel Grey is best known for his work in the musical Cabaret but is one heck of a performer. Joel Grey is the son of Mickey Katz a comedian that mainly targeted the borscht belt. Mickey Katz had is own orchestra that parodied hit songs of the day by converting every song, regardless of the genre, into a Jewish comedy. An example is Elvis’ “Hound Dog” that became “Dirty Dog.”

Like Samson had his power in his hair so for Niese it was in his nose. The hook is gone from his nose and possibly his curveball.

My own little nickname for Niese as “the Hawk” apparently is grounded before it took flight…

Now that his nose has died maybe he’ll transcend like Gandalf the Grey became Gandalf the White and slay the evils of Mordor that reside in Philly.
God this must be my geekiest post ever.

Hey, what was the beer you brought up the other week. I looked it up and remembered the label and couldn’t find it but can’t remember the name.

Orval Trappist Ale made by Belgian Monks. There’s probably a joke in there somewhere. Tasty brew. More conventional I also like Taddy Porter by Samuel Smith or as I like to say “the beer that drinks like a meal”.

That’s the one. I confused you the other day with “GateGM and he said he hasn’t drank in years due to waking up in random beds lol.
And Taddy Ported is one of those beers I always cherish. Before the US micro-brews really came online, Taddy Porter was teaching me how beer should taste.

lol, yeah I saw the GateGem dialogue his response was a GG classic.
Orval Trappist used to be difficult to find. It’s a beer that the yeast actually settles in the bottom of the bottle. Really funky taste. Best I could describe as a tasty metallic undertone. Not to be confused with Beer Can mettalic. Very different.

It’s got a little brettanomyces in it, which is a wild yeast that gives it that weird flavor. It’s not as strong a flavor as some brett beers, but it’s definitely there. I’ve never been a big fan of Orval, but the other trappist breweries were my first true beer loves.
