This past week newly acquired Mets middle reliever, Jon Rauch has joined the growing number of Mets players that have made themselves available via Twitter.
It turns out that Jon ( @jrauch60 ) is a big gear head, and is in the middle of transforming his ’67 Chevy Chevelle into a full blown hot rod.
It has a 496 cubic inch fuel injected engine with a 9′ Moser rear (3.90 gear ratio) and a full Air Ride Suspension.
He even tweeted footage of his car on a dyno machine – which is used to measure a car engines horse power output.

And with that said… HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!
Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:
Utility infielder from the ’63 season, Chico Fernandez is 80 (1932) .
Sadly on this date in 2007 Original Mets middle reliever, Clem Labine passed away.
The New York Mets released back up catcher, Joe DePastino on March 2, 2001. He would re-sign with the Mets in ’03 and have 2 plate appearances with the team that season

not too fond of the signing, but if he is into cars, I will give him a chance.

I thought it was a bit much BUT what it allows is the Mets to market both he and Francisco in trade that way if they trade one of them they still have a guy with closing experience.

When we see either of these two guys as closers, people will VERY quickly begin to appreciate everyone from KRod and Wagner to Franco and Benitez.
People (well, other than Ceetar) have underestimated the value of a very good closer.
Remember Parnell trying to close last year?
The closing situation and the leadoff spot will be the team’s two really glaring weaknesses, even if they do somehow fight for a .500 record.

BBCAmerica presents the British version of “Top Gear” while the History Channel shows the American version of that show.If you like cars this is the best of the genre. The British version was the forerunner of the American version and is decidedly superior.
