Mets win their first series of the year. Always a plus when it’s the Braves. Now let’s go for the sweep.
- Wright looking like the Wright of old.
- Duda is most certainly looking like the beast some predicted.
- Love RA Dickey and the new and improved Parnell.
- Ike and Ruben getting off to slow starts.
- Kirk got his first ML hit out of the way. Looked like a tie to me but hey….tie to the runner, right?
- Bay…..he’s just done. Wonder how long they leave him in the 5th spot?
And the biggie…..no one got hurt.

Of course Duda is a beast. haven’t you been paying attention? I’ll try to post it more often!
The best thing so far is seeing Wright looking back to what he used to be. If that keeps up it will be wonderful.
Ike is a bit worrisome though. It is going to be a long year unless he figures out something to do with those outside breaking balls. I don’t think he is ever going to see a fastball this year.
and Tejada has been looking a tad fly ball happy. Hope he isn’t swinging for the fences.

Duda’s two solo homeruns were wrapped around failure with two men on base. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk……:-)

have to say, watching both games so far on the 55″ TV with ronnie, keith and gary has been very nice. Too bad the free preview of extra innings package is about to run out.
I did let the mlb.tv subscription renew, so I can watch some on the PC. Really need to figure out how to stream that to the TV.

There is an mlb extra innings special for $179 that with your incredible wealth should be no problem.

If you upgrade to MLB premium for 129.00 you can stream it on a computer, phone, iPad and a tv set box like Xbox, play station, or roku. Some TVA can stream it directly, especially ones that can stream things like Netflix. I just switched from Dtv’s baseball package to MLB.tv and on the iPad it’s been great. Haven’t tested it on the tv yet. Was thinking of doing a technology post here tomorrow to explain options.

pretty sure I do have the premium package. And the TV I got last year (fancy pants Sharp) has wifi built in, and can stream stuff like netflix.
so, if you can explain how it works, let me know! The house is wireless, so that isn’t a problem.
I seem to recall something about having to contact the cable company to set it up, but not really sure why you would need to.
but that would be wonderful. Plan B is to hook up a wire from the laptop into the TV and just use it like a really big monitor!
oh, and convincing the family to watch the games, which they normally don’t want to do, which is a big reason I don’t bother to get the TV package.

I’m pretty sure you should have a app menu in the TV, but I guess it depends on model and manufacturer. Can you grab your model number and I’ll look it up. I am very curious, since I am in the market for a new TV to integrate into my new Directv setup.

It is a sharp aquos LC52le92. fairly high up in the model range, so it had some extra features.

BTW that Sharp billboard that has always been in the outfield of Shea paid off!
The app is available with some other TV models but it doesn’t list Sharp as one. I would just search the app store that you have access to in the TV and just make sure. They could of always added it, it’s a very new feature.

Salt in your experience with it are you satisfied with the quality of the streaming video? Is there much waiting while the buffer fills? I was thinking of using one of my spare netbooks and connecting it to the TV via the USB port.

I still got to test it on the TV. As for the iPad, it is crystal clear and so far no latency after a bunch of games. Even my Android did pretty well.

Even with the disinterest by their fan base a slow start by the Braves after the free fall last year could wreck their season. So lets get the broom out and sweep their rear ends.

‘Collins said that he expects Duda to surpass Jason Bay in the batting order, and that he will be going from the six spot in the lineup to the No. 5 hole beginning with the next series against the Nationals.’
That didn’t take long.

yeah, it’s quite possible duda could be in the cleanup spot batting before Ike in the not too distant future.

Hope this is a step in the right direction for Parnell. Am I just making it up because I want to see it, or does his slower 91-93mph fastball have some movement? At any rate, he snapped off some good looking breaking balls. Him figuring it out could be huge for the bp. Always fun to beat the Braves. I think I heard the boo’s for Bay all the way in Oklahoma. LGM!

Don’t think it’s just you. He’s got better control since he slowed down his velocity a tough. Plus that extra pitch Izzy taught him last year – forget what that is right now.

his backpedal is interesting to say the least. But, even what he claims to have meant was pretty poorly said.
Once again, just have to say, with the way the media and some of the fan base is out for blood and tends to over react, thank God this has nothing to do with the Mets!

Lol……Phillies lose in extras to the Bucs, only scoring one run again. Yup, I’m enjoying Charlie’s attempt at small ball minus Utley and Howard.

just finished watching the local (philly) news. That certainly was the highlight.
Problem is, as long as the SP keeps doing what they are doing, it won’t matter!
Not thinking they will be going with the unprepared rookie though at 2B. Even the team said that Galvis needed more work on his offense, but they got desperate pretty much. Bummer.

couple of quick thoughts:
- My breakout pitcher of the year candidate from the thread earlier this week (Groski) came up big. I stand by my statement that he cold shock everyone by being up with the Mets this season, and potentially before the bigger name guys. He really does, in many ways, look the most like a finished product (in that he has nothing left to develop, so it is as good as it will get.
If he keeps mowing down AA for a couple of months, why not give him a taste of AAA?
I believe that players need to be put in their appropriate level, and if they are too good for where they are, move them up. Even if that means to the big leagues.
- I really meant to do a post on this (maybe later in the week) but it is fascinating to see how these 2 wins has seriously changed the dynamic of much of the (blog posting) fanbase. It really does not seem that it will take long to get them back on the bandwagon. I never bought into the whole “65 wins would be a miracle” crap.
So, you have to wonder what will happen (including with attendance) if the Mets can reverse last year with a hot start? Say they sweep today, take 2-3 from the Nats, then go into Philly 5-1. Don’t get swept and end the first full week at 7-2 or 6-3.
Is that enough to reset expectations that maybe the team (given something passing for normal good health!) is not the Astros-level POC that many people seemed to think?

Reading around the Mets blog there certainly seems to be a fair amount of Met fans with the mindset of ‘post season, here we come’.
Uh, need to slow down that truck. It’s only two games.
That being said, I never bought into the predictions that this team is so awful we’re only going to win less than 70 games.
Interesting to read though that Braves fans are already calling for Freddie’s replacement – having blamed him for last September’s collapse. Phillie fans also starting the Charlie’s time has come and gone, wanting another type manager that knows how to manage a team that now needs to play small ball to win games as gone are the days of their winning by one swing of the bat.

4/8/2012-8:36am at 8:36 am (UTC -4)
He seems to be progressing somewhat behind the plate too – getting to know the pitchers and recognizing their strength, weaknesses, etc. Heard him say on that Johan start that in the 5th inning he lost his release point and when that happens with him he’s wild, all over the place. Said it happens occasionally but with Johan he finds it again as quickly as he lost it and he would have been fine, if he had come out for the 6th.
