Batting third and play third, David Wright.
Woot! Glad my predictions on him hitting the DL were wrong.

not exactly the powerhouse Phillies line up that used to scare teams a few years ago is it?
And great news about DW being good to go.l
I did have to read the comments over at MB. As expected, the usual histrionics about the Fo “ruining” him, how could they not put him on the DL for 10 more days, oh the medical staff. Some of it was really idiotic.
But, I actually like this lineup. Would rather see Duda in front of Bay, but for now, can live with it.
and man, once Duda and Ike decide to get hot, they should be able to score some runs.

Wondering if they are keeping Bay in front of Duda to keep his DFA rumors at a minimum. As soon as the start moving him down, the circus begins.

random thought: Assuming he keeps on keeping on like he has been, Tejada is going to stay at leadoff even if torres comes back, right? Hard to see them changing.
Some times, things work out for the better when you get forced into making a change you otherwise didn’t want to make so soon. Putting Tejada leadoff could be just that situation.

Hopefully when Torres is ready the keep him on the bench and keep Kirk in the lineup.

One of the reasons I think tejada needs to stay in the leadoff, since I think Torres will be in and out. More consistency that way.
Not sure what move they make though. Baxter could be the odd guy out, with Kirk staying, then go with a 3 man rotation of bay/kirk/torres. Mix and match.

I think Baxter doesn’t even have 5 AB’s at this point. I look at him like Evens. Not a solution, just a band-aid. Kirk is possible a solution and so far he is doing just fine. If he has a good game today, it will probably cement him.

And yea keep Tejada at leadoff for the same reason to keep Murph at 2nd even if Wright is hurt. Players respond way better to stability.

They had an interesting discussion on the broadcast last night about how Terry when making a substitution likes to keep the sub in the same batting spot as the guy he’s subbing for. He picked this up from when on Leyland’s staff that Jimmy would do this with the Pirates teams with Bonds, Bonilla, Van Slyke. So as to not throw of the other guys he’d keep them in the same spot they got used to. If he follows that logic then if/when Torres comes back he should be down in the line up. Then again, he could always play the “veteran doesn’t lose his spot because of injury” so who knows. But I agree with keeping Tejada leading off when the time comes.

And on that note, the first pitch Wright sees, he deposits over the 409 sign at CBP.
Yeah, that pinky is really bothering him, huh?

I really, really feel like Michael Corleone in Godfather 3—I am already REALLY sucked back in.
Damn I hope they win today.

MF4D (I can still call you that right?
) I am afraid of getting TOO into this team too early.
I thought the starting pitching would be good and the offense bad, but the pen has shocked me, and if Wright, Tejada and Murph all keep hitting like this….
Woot is damn right.

Sure thing. Just shorted the name b/c the length was causing some problem in the recent comment box.
Well, as the saying goes….if you can’t be optimistic in the beginning of the season then when can you? So far in this young season, the W/L record is good and it’s fun.
Beating the Phillies for me is just more icing on the cake!
