Former Met Philip Humber gets a PERFECT GAME!

What can you say about this one. The Mets still without a no hitter or a perfect game watch another former Met get a perfect game on another team. I am very happy for Mr. Humber as his career has not panned out the way many thought it would as did any of the guys who the Mets traded for Johan Santana back in 2007 from the Minnesota Twins. But the reality is Humber now goes on the list with Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Mike Scott, David Cone, Dwight Gooden and Hideo Nomo to go on the list of guys to throw either no hitters or perfect games while not being on the Mets. I know and hope one day the Mets will get to have one, but right now I guess we just have to watch former ones get it first. Congratulations to Philip though as he has also improved since going to the White Sox. He is also the first guy to get a perfect in the 2012 season at Seattle today.

I call it the curse of Jimmy Qualls. Seaver was as dominant that night as any pitcher I have even seen with the possible exception of Sandy Koufax. Some things are not meant to be. :-)

it will happen someday. And probably by some completely random stiff. Like Philip Humber.

This is off-track but I couldn’t restrain myself from visiting some RedSox blogs. We are bombarded with nonsense describing how silly, stupid, absurd, etc. Mets fans are but the nonsense on the RedSox blogs exceeds even what we witness on MMO. It actually exceeds the claptrap I saw on Cardinal blogs after the Mets beat them near the end of last season. Yet Mets fans, fans of a team that has done very little over the last few seasons and this winter was the financial court jester of the so called news media, are constantly being criticized.

BTW it is becoming very apparent why Theo got out of Dodge when he did. I guess he saw the writing on the wall and didn’t want to stay around to accept the criticism. So when a good opportunity arrived he couldn’t leave fast enough. If he builds a winner in Chicago baseball will continue to worship at Theo’s alter.

      Congrats to Phil Humber.

Watching the FOX game on TV in my area it was the Yankees and Red Sox. Figured they would cut away to the Humber perfect game in the making, which they did. It was 9-0 Sox at the time. Comes back after and it’s 9-5, quickly becoming 9-8 – and watched while the Yankees went on to crush them. They kept panning to Bobby V in the dugout. You could see the steam coming out of his ears. It’s starting out to be quite the disaster in Boston.

on another pitching note, one of the Phils “old” guys finally showed signs of mortality. Cliff Lee with a Met favorite, an oblique. On the DL.

      And so it begins.

Went over to BL to read some after the Phil’s loss last night. The post game wrap up has only 3 words in bold red: This offense sucks.
      Hahahaha.
