At least they have 2 starters to go to with Schwinden for now since they can’t call Hefner up for 7 days I believe. Then Hefner down the road if needed.
Meanwhile Young now has the opening in the rotation as soon as he can show he is ready to be called up.

I can’t wait to see the I knew they shouldn’t of signed Pelfrey as if the reason used was cause Pelfrey was an injury risk.

As I said all winter, giving Pelfrey $6 million was a BIG mistake! To all those who cited him being a workhorse after he got that deal, all that wear and tear for a mediocre talent wasn’t worth the investment.

Just 1 person? I’m surprised.
I actually did note concern over Pelfrey’s arm when he agreed on his arbitration but it was based on comments he made last year regarding his shoulder in 2010 not his elbow.
Now if there is a connection I guess time will tell.

why not hefner? afraid that after a relief stint, he won’t be able to make the start? Would have expected schwinden too, but maybe he is off-cycle.

Right now the pulse feels like “The season is now over”. 2 months ago if you asked a Mets fan if the team would be better without Bay and Pelf, most would say yes. Or at least get rid of them for the sake of getting rid of them.

I hate to say this and I don’t wish anyone ill but if you had to have 1 starter go down to injury I think most would say that it be Pelfrey.
That being said the be careful what you wish for saying comes to mind.
The Mets after going 7-3 in their 1st 10 are 1 – 5 over their last 6. This season was always going to have it’s peaks and valleys. I just hope there are higher peaks and shorter valleys.

Just another bump in the road. Do I wish there was an extra crappy veteran SP signed, sure, but this is not close to the end. As for Bay, I am fine since that means less plate appearance to kick that option in.
