I think it would be better for everyone involved if we all just ignore what the Mets did last night. Things went much better on the farm.
Buffalo 7, Rochester 3
After a night off, the recharged Bisons rode a pair of three run innings to knock off Ra-Cha-Cha. Of much more concern, however, is the pitching of Jeurys Familia. Coming into the year, Familia was considered to be a big part of the Mets future – either in the rotation or the bullpen. Initially, the concern was whether or not he could polish his secondary pitches and reign in his control. Last night he walked seven batters in three innings. He his BB/IP ratio is 1:1. Fingers crossed that this is just a bad start, but walks have been a problem before and it’s getting worse. Andres Torres continues his rehab assignment, going 0 for 4 with a walk. He is due back with the Mets Monday.
Binghamton 3, Erie 1
Mark Cohoon tossed six solid innings, giving up a run on four hits and four walks while striking out three. Robbie Carson added two innings of shutout relief after a brief sojourn with the Mets, though he never appeared in a game. Elvin Ramirez got the save and Rylan Sandoval smacked his first home run of the year. And Jefry Marte continues to rake, going 2 for 3 and upping his average to .375/.429/.500.
St Lucie 3, Jupiter 2 (10 innings)
Blake Forsythe singled home Richard Lucas with one out in the top of the ninth to tie the game at two, and Corey Vaughn connected for a solo shot in the top of the tenth to give the Lucies the victory. Angel Cuan labored (5.1IP, 2R, 8H, 2BB, 4K), but John Church, Hamilton Bennett (who got the win) and Adrian Rosario (save) shut out the Hammerheads the rest of the way.
Savannah 6, West Virginia 2
Theses hits go to 11. The Sand Gnats pounded out eleven hits to turn off the Power, and four Gnats had multi-hit games. Travis Taijeron hit his fourth home run of the year. Tyler Pill gave up 2 runs in six innings, but also allowed eight hits and a walk though he did strike out five. Estarlin Morel, TJ Chism and Jared West each tossed a scoreless innings of relief.
