I understand Turner starting tonight – Valdespin was just called up again, probably isn’t prepared to start. However, I think going forward while Tejada is on the DL Valdespin should start every day.

Waiting to hear more from the Mets but I would think Spin is here until Cedeno is ready to join team.

Cedeno was supposed to start his rehab today, but was not in the lineup for St. Lucie’s afternoon game, so I’m not sure what’s up there, but he’s supposed to be back by the weekend. I doubt he’ll need too many games.
With Duda, Murphy, and Davis in the middle of the lineup you almost need Turner in there to balance things out. But I imagine Valdespin starts tomorrow against Blanton and Turner again Wednesday against Lee. Valdespin has more experience at SS overall, but if memory serves he’s only played one game there this year.

that’s what I have been seeing. so basically they are going to let Turner and Spin cover SS for 3 games, and turn the job over to Cedeno Friday?

On another note, Mota got busted for roids again. 100 game suspension.

Let me guess the UPS guy took the sample home and it somehow absorbed roids while there?

I can’t always figure out the thinking (logic) of the FO. But it seems like being on the 40 man trumps damned near everything, including making sense. This is opposite of Omar, who liked to call up guys for 1 game then waive them, thereby losing valuable assets from the organization (no, I have not forgotten Day going to Texas to be good).
what doesn’t make sense is they get a veteran back up to stash in AAA in case Tejada goes down. Then He does go down, and they don’t call up the back-up, even though he is having a very good year.
Spin must just be a filler until Cedeno goes down I would have to assume.
Considering that they pretty much removed Valdy from SS consideration, and Turner has barely played in the minors for years now, they effectively don’t have a “real” SS on the roster. And generally, that is a good thing to have, right?
I suspect Cedeno can still do an OK job at it, even though he can’t hit his way out of a paper bag, so maybe the team figures he can be the starter for a while? I certainly hope so.
only makes sense if they look at Cedeno as a more viable starter LT than Quantilla.
