In week 4 it’s becoming clear who are the strong teams, and which teams still have some work to do.
The league had its first trade this weekend. Team “Texas I’m Stuck In” traded outfielder Andre Ethier and pitcher Adam Wainwright to team “Dickey’s Disciples” for first baseman Adam Dunn and pitcher Tommy Hanson. Ethier so far has posted 97.5 points, Wainwright has 38, Hanson has 56.5, and Dunn at 97. What are your thoughts?
We are through 4 weeks of the fantasy season and I thought it was a good time to re-visit the first 2 rounds of the draft and see how they have turned out so far.
|Albert Pujols, LAA 1B||Pepsi Porch Tattooers||30th Ranked at 1st. Ty Wigginton has performed better at this point.
|Miguel Cabrera, Det 1B||Niese’s Nose||Third best at 1st and second best at 3rd. Doing exactly what he was drafted to do.
|Jose Bautista, Tor 3B||Snuke’s (SaltyGary)||I refused to draft him last year, because I thought he was a fluke. I should of kept the same rule.
|Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS||Reconsider Baby||Pretty mediocre month, not what owners are looking for.
|Robinson Cano, NYY 2B||Mike Pelfail||See Above…
|Matt Kemp, LAD OF||Texas I’m Stuck In||Best pick of the draft by far. Leads all batters with 142.5 points. Second highest point getter is Josh Hamilton with 119.5.
|Prince Fielder, Det 1B||Team Real||He’s hitting, just not for power. Probably just a league adjustment phase.
|Ryan Braun, Mil OF||Rocky Mountain Mets||Braun is missing his teddy bear. Take away the 3 homer game and he’s been pretty flat so far.
|Evan Longoria*, TB 3B||Dickey’s Disciples||Ouch, my Leg!
|Jacoby Ellsbury*, Bos OF||Shockers XXXIII||Ouch my Shoulder!
|Justin Upton, Ari OF||Shockers XXXIII||Refer to commnet on pick #4.
|Carlos Gonzalez, Col OF||Dickey’s Disciples||3rd best OF, having a great start. Looks like he forgot how crappy he was last season.
|Joey Votto, Cin 1B||Rocky Mountain Mets||Sixth best at 1st. He is striking out a ton and is low on power right now.
|Jose Reyes, Mia SS||Team Real||THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!!
|Justin Verlander, Det SP||Texas I’m Stuck In||He’s not putting up lasts years numbers, but that’s tough to expect again. He’s doing what he should be doing.
|Cliff Lee*, Phi SP||Mike Pelfail||Ouch my Liver! Oops sorry that is me… Ouch my oblique!
|Mike Napoli, Tex C||Reconsider Baby||2nd round is pretty high to take a Catcher and Reconsider Baby is wishing he could reconsider.
|Adrian Gonzalez, Bos 1B||Snuke’s (SaltyGary)||If you aren’t living up to expectations you might be on the Red Sox. In yesterdays 17 inning game he went 0-8 with 2 K’s.
|Roy Halladay, Phi SP||Niese’s Nose||Refer to commnet on pick #4.
|Hanley Ramirez, Mia SS||Pepsi Porch Tattooers||He’s put up half the numbers he had last year but he needs to get that average back up.
Overall probably two guys in the 1st round and two guys in the 2nd round are performing as expected. The rest are injured, going through league switch growing pains or just flat out sucking. Those mid-level picks can be more important to a team’s success than what is chose at the top, especially if they exceed expectations. Next week a look at those mid-rounds and the break-out players that forgot that they are supposed to be mediocre.
