don’t understand the move. Why keep Acosta at this point, it’s not like anyone is going to claim him???
I don’t think Carson will amount to much, but Acosta has been a liability all season despite being very good the past 2 seasons…

I think we’re all miffed as to why Acosta is still around. The season is closing in on 2 months old and his ERA is over 10. I’m not sure how long much longer he can stick around. Elvin Ramirez looks about ready and Josh Edgin is starting to move in the right direction.
As for this move, Carson probably wasn’t ready for an extended stay in the bigs and Terry was clearly hesitant to go to him in a meaningful situation, and it can’t be like that, especially with a team like this. Egbert has done well in Buffalo. His ERA is barely above 2 and his WHIP is barely above 1.

and yet, the specter of Manny lives on. he must have pictures of Jeff and Mrs. met or something.
I just can’t see them thinking that Acosta is going to give them anything worthwhile enough at any point this season to keep him around killing the team now. Just not enough possible upside.
This ain’t Ike we are talking about here!

Somewhere he and Ollie Perez will front a mean 1-2 punch at the top of someone’s beer league rotation, while hopefully leaving the light on for Manny I’llCostYa A Win.

interesting take by Toby on Mets minors. Basically said that Egbert is just an aging journeyman that isn’t really ML quality, and he is really just a 2 week option until Beato gets ready, at which time Egbert gets DFA’d. That way, they don’t risk losing a “real” prospect like ramirez.
again, interesting moves based largely on 40 man roster consideration, as opposed to simply who is the best player.

I think Toby makes a lot of sense.
Egbert is what? 29 years old? I have to think he’s just a stop gap for now.
If he comes up and is effective, even better.
Carrasco was no loss and I didn’t like the calling up of Carson to begin with.
Now….if they would just replace Acosta……
