Gee pitched a solid 7 innings tonight. Career high 9 Ks. Got himself out of any jam he got in. Baxter really helped out with that almost-Endy like catch and then doubling off the runner at first.
Good to see the offense pick up Wright on a rare off night.
Duda, Baxter, Kirk and yes, even Ike with the 2 RBI single.
For the first time in a long while, they showed a Ike interview on the post game. ‘It’s only been 2 days. But I’ve felt a little more comfortable. I’m a better hitter than I’ve shown’.
Just a little head scratcher in the 8th. Why Byrdak? Just to see how many games in a row he can pitch in?
Oh well, he and Ramirez didn’t give up any runs, which is all that counts.
On to Game 3 tomorrow.

Excellent start for Gee. Warthen irked me a little coming out in the 7th when the bloop single fell. He was in a pretty good groove I thought. Gee got the K on the next guy. Which is why I watch the game from the couch and not from a dugout =D

Back2Back solid starts from Gee. A rare comfortable 6-1 win. Like the blue & orange NY on the mound. Don’t recall ever seeing that before. Also it looks like SNY is listening and changed the score display. Why they just don’t go back to last year’s version I don’t know but it’s a step in the right direction.
Nice to see Davis get a hit for a change hopefully he can string a bunch of them together. Duda’s blast was just awesome. I had almost forgot how far he can hit em.
Positives for me was obviously the solid pitching by Gee, Byrdak and Ramirez. 4 games over .500 now just need to win a few in a row rather than the win one lose one of late.
Enjoy your holiday weekend everyone.

NJ have you noticed that the words plenty and solid seem to pervade the world of sports journalism? And, of course, what would a football discussion be without the word adversity?
Duda’s a big strong lad and he can drive them as far as anyone today. Strawberry and Kingman hit monstrous homeruns way back when. But the longest drives I ever saw belong to Mickey Mantle. I shudder to think what Mantle could have done if he actually worked out as today’s players do. Some of Mantle’s homeruns were beyond description.
Nice win and well pitched game by Gee.

I haven’t watched a complete hockey game in 16 years. Did not watch any playoff games this year. I know nothing about the teams involved. My sympathies were with the Rangers since they remind me of the Mets, a perennial loser with a couple of World Championships.

Yes now that you mention it I do notice that.
I’m sure there are a lot more. I know I use common words like that all the time to describe a performance.
Indeed it was a nice or how about impressive performance by Gee tonight.

I’ll categorize Gee’s performance as impressive when he does it against the Yankees or Tampa Bay, etc. I may even use the word scintillating then. But I admit nice is a rather hackneyed term.
I was much more impressed with his game against Toronto. Right now San Diego reminds me of a 4A team

Mets now 11-0 when their starters go 7 plus. That should tell Collins to continue to let his starters pitch deep into games on nights when they’re on as opposed to lifting them cause they’re at or around 100 pitches or when he feels the need to get his reliever backout there as he’s done n the past. I’m fed up with assigned roles taking presidence over logic.

Agreed. Welcome by the way.

I understand you don’t mean just the act of going 7 innings is why they won but it should be noted just in case that if a starter goes 7 is usually due to him pitching well hence the 11-0 record.
For example I know 2 starts of Santana alone where he pitched into the 7th and never finished cause he gave up the lead or allowed the game to be tied trying to get thru 7.
