Chris Young Can Be The Savior

Jeremy Hefner gave the Mets a strong start yesterday and helped his own cause with a homerun. Can he be the Mets fifth starter? Chris Young is coming back and hoping to stay healthy. Last year before Young got injured he was having a positive season starting four games  going 1-0 with 1.88 ERA in 22 innings. With Johan Santana and R.A. Dickey pitching well and hoping Dillon Gee and Jonathan Niese get better Chris Young, if he pitches like he did last year, can be the Mets third best pitcher on the team. He is rehabbing right now in Buffalo and with Josh Thole catching him soon  Young has pitched ok in his rehab starts, but so did Andy Pettite and he hasn’t pitched bad. In the end I expect Young to help not hurt the Mets rotation.

They need him something fierce, that is for sure. Savior? I wouldn’t go that far. I’d say if there was a band called Savior, and it had Chris Young on vocals, Josh Thole on Drums, Ruben Tejada on guitar and Jason Bay on Bass, that would sum up the Savior band this team needs. And I’m talking how they better be playing hard rock, Queens of the Stone Age/Fu Man Chu type rock and not some 80′s hair band rock or this team is not making a prolonged run at the WC spot.

Ah… Fu Man Chu and their cover of Godzilla. So good…

I’m not really expecting much out of him. Hefner resutls, but in a shorter outing? Just hard to see him having the “stuff” and stamina to really survive long, at a decent level of performance.

But, worth a shot I guess.

I agree. I worry that he may tax the bullpen by being able to only go 5 innings each time out. I hope he can help to be sure, but I’m not expecting another Santana-like comeback.

Shouldn’t you guys be at MMO?

Seriously, maybe Joe is about to publish another brilliant piece—”Alderson Says He’ll Make Wright An Offer This Season”–precisely the OPPOSITE of what Alderson said, according to Metsblog, the Ledger, and other sites not run and populated by slow children.

I go there for humor. I come here to rub elbows with the sane.

Definitely not picking on you, but you, Stick, MF4D, TRS, and Mr North seem to greatly prefer being over there and I think it is a very sad and disappointing state of affairs.

I think the drop in comments here is due to all of you being there all day, which I would say is at least partly why Wanny, Fong, Haz, Gipper, Dark, and others barely are ever here anymore. “The Core” of TRDMB is basically now living at MMO.

        Kind of sad to me.

C’est la vie I guess and to each his own.

        1. gategem

I just popped over there and you sir are most certainly correct.

          1. kingman 26

Yeah, sometimes it sucks being right all the time.

        2. srt

          Aw….that’s not true at all.

Come here first and last every day. As TX stated, the sane reign on here.

MMO has some good content daily and you have to credit Joe D for that. I’ll post some comments if I feel I’ve got a strong opinion on something or just a ‘kudos’ type for some of their coverage.

I normally stay out of those lengthy debates though. Only reason I jumped in today was b/c – again – Bayonne felt the need to jump all over me when I wasn’t involved. I refuse to let an internet bully carry on about me.

Also, I’ll agree that’s it’s been a little slow here on the comments since maybe late last season.

I normally have a comment on just about every post here. But it gets a little lonely when I’m only one of a couple commenting. As I really don’t care for metsblog and don’t read there much anymore, found myself wandering over the winter over to AA and MMO just to see what some of my fellow Met fans were thinking. You’ll probably see as many comments on AA for me as you do here and MMO.
Difference is, both here and AA – they don’t tolerate the lunatic fringe hijacking post after post (thank the baseball gods).

Sorry MF4D, but when there are dozens of comments from you, NJTX, Stick, Gary, Prismo, Mr N, and the ubiquitous TRS, these are all comments which used to be here. And with all of those dozens of comments gone, many of our other regulars who would rather root for the Yankees while bathing in dog feces than be at MMO are also going to stay away, as it looks like a ghost town.

I guess I understand, but it is too bad.

          3. srt

            Root for the Yankees? Nevah!!

Some of those posts over on MMO is just the same over and over and over again. I’ve taken to skipping over some of that b/c I’ve read it about 20 times already.

Those that just won’t let the ‘Reyes is gone’ reality go are the worst.

That’s the thing for me, it’s really slow here. And I don’t bother with the comments section at MMO. I used to read them for laughs, but some of those guys are so disrespectful that it’s not worth my time. I’ll read some of their articles sometimes, as I think they do have some really good content, it’s simply the comment section I don’t bother with.

          5. kingman 26

            And this is my point!

Dark and Haz (and I am sure others) think it is sleepy here because The Core of TRDMB is over at MMO debating with Alex and Bayonne, who are brick walls of immovable idiocy.

        3. Hazmet

I have posted a grand total of 3 times on MMO in my lifetime. And my 2 posts yesterday were shall we say a social experiment to see if I would be railed against as a stranger in a strange land. I’ve heard so much animosity between posters between here and there I was legitimately curious as to if an attempt at a thought out post would be shredded as intruder fodder. I checked back through the night and nothing neither here nor there so the grand sum of these things = ehh, it didn’t rate, but I wasn’t ripped either.

My lack of traffic has been more work related as I’ve been swamped working through a never ending program redirection and contract adjustment. Soon to be done though and I shall be the in season pest I usually am. :)

        4. Stick

          Write more posts!

but like MF said, during the day there is more activity, so things to comment on. But, I check over here when I am making my rounds, just not usually much going on.

chicken and egg? But it gets embarrassing to be talking to yourself.

          1. gategem

I just overheard something on the news about a woman marrying herself. If that is indeed true then talking to oneself is a minor inconvenience compared to marrying oneself.

Tonight’s game probably has you climbing the wall.

          2. srt

I laughed right out loud. Marrying yourself…..

Who is Chris Young going to save? An arm doctor that needs another surgery to keep his practice profitable?

  5. srt

I’ve got my worries about Chris Young.

So far of the 3 that came before him with that surgery, only Johan has come back apparently healthy (so far, crossing my fingers) with some level of success.

I have no idea how Chris Young will fare coming off that surgery. Will he struggle to stay off the DL or will he hit the ground running like Johan? I’m guessing somewhere in between.

And if all we can get from him on most starts is 5 innings, we’d better have a long man in that BP.
