After 1/3 Of The Season The Mets Season Has Been All About Roster Moves

The NY Mets are 1/3 of the way through this season and find themselves this morning in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the NL East. The Opening Day roster has had 12 different players join the team at one point or another due to injury, lack of production or both. The 12 players to be called up so far are:

  • 1B – Zach Lutz
  • C – Rob Johnson
  • CF – Kirk Nieuwenhuis
  • RP – Robert Carson
  • RP – Jack Egbert
  • RP – Elvin Ramirez
  • RP – D.J. Carrasco
  • SP – Chris Schwinden
  • SP – Jeremy Hefner
  • SS – Omar Quintanilla
  • UT – Vinny Rottino
  • UT – Jordany Valdespin

Trying to keep up with all the roster changes has been like trying to follow a ball in a shell game at times. Below is my attempt to review the many 25-man roster moves made so far this 2012 season.

Ha! I just said as much as on a previous thread.
Thanks for posting the info here.

So we’ve played 1/3 of the season with 37 different players up here. Either our depth was more than Sandy thought it was, better than the media predicted the farm system was or…..it’s a damn miracle.

Get ready, cause 3 more moves are coming tomorrow. Looks like Bay will get activated and Satin sent down, Young will be activated and Egbert like DFA, and also Batista should be back from the DL with either Ramon Ramirez going to the DL, Elvin Ramirez being optioned, or Hefner being optioned.

      I would suspect Carson no?

Carson actually isn’t active. They brought him in on the taxi-squad in case Ramon Ramirez went to the DL, but that hasn’t happened yet, as they’re still evaluating him.

ahh that would make sense, then you would think it must be Hefner then.

That would be my guess, b/c Hefner is essentially the 5th starter, but now that will be Young and Egbert is essentially the long man, but now that will be Batista. So that would make the most sense.
