looking at these bonus amounts, I should have told my son to put down the books and play more baseball! He is graduating next year, and pretty sure he won’t be getting a signing bonus like those top guys!

Thanks.
I know of the new CBA rules with the bonus pool and cap but had no idea how it actually worked – or more to the point, what the Mets limit was.

I am actually surprised that only the #1 pick signed. That is certainly different than how it worked in the past!

Are there no other signings for the Mets? Seems like half the teams have signed about 15 people each…

The first pick is the only one the Mets have officially announced, but other sites, like this one http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?t=726897 are reporting plenty of other signings. I’m sure at some point the Mets will announce their additional signings, not just Cecchini.

I’m sure there are others. For example, I can’t remember who – but a top 10 pick for the Mets tweeted the day after the draft that he was preparing for Mets camp (or something to that effect).

Yea I believe there are others that have agreed on contracts as well. For example there was an article that quoted Plawecki to say he had agreed on a contract already a few days after the draft.

no way that guy was turning down an offer anywhere close to the slot amount. What a windfall that was for him.
