Congratulations to International League All Stars Val Pascucci and Matt Harvey. The farm split their games, as the beat goes on for Kingsport. Let’s take a look.
Buffalo 9, Louisville 4
Val Pascucci celebrated his good news with a 3 for 3 effort including a walk, three doubles and five RBI. BAM. That’s how it’s done. Jordanny Valdespin went 2 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Also of note, Pedro Beato tossed 1.2 innings, giving up just one unearned run. And the losing streak is snapped at seven. Huzzah!
Bowie 7, Binghamton 1
The B-Mets hung close, but Erik Turgeon gave up three runs over the last two innings to allow the Bay Sox to pull away. Jefry Marte was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Wilmer Flores was 1 for 4 with a solo homer
Daytona 12, St. Lucie 1
Yech – Yoham Almonte was absolutely bombed, allowing eleven runs on eleven hits over just five innings. Blake Forsythe was 2 for 4 with the lone Lucie RBI. Let’s just move on…
Charleston 8, Savannah 5
Man – I knew coming into the season that the River Dogs were going to have a good team, but the Sand Gants just cannot put them away. For the second day in a row, a late Charleston rally sunk Savannah. Logan Verret got the star and pitched well, with a line of 6.2IP, 5R, 3ER, 3H (1HR), 2BB, 7K. However, Charleston was able to tie the game with three in the seventh thanks in part to an Aderlin Rodriguez error, and another one by SS Ismail Tijerina in the eighth allowed the River Dogs to hang another three spot and take a firm lead. Rodriguez did have a three run homer in the effort, and Camden Maron added a two run shot of his own.
Brooklyn 4, Hudson Valley 1
When the defense is someone passable, never a gimmie in Short Season A Ball, the Cyclones have a great chance to win because man are they getting some good pitching. Last night was Hansel Robles turn. Following a trail of breadcrumbs between the dugout and the mound, Robles tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, no walks, and struck out four. Tyler Vanderhieden pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save. Brandon Nimmo got dropped to eighth in the lineup and went 0 for 3 with a walk and two strikeouts. His average has now dipped to .152.
Danville 8, Kingsport 1
I know it’s early, but Kingsport has only one win this year. Ouch. More of the same last night, as Persio Reyes put the K-Mets in an early hole they did not have the firepower to get themselves out of (4.2IP, 5R, 7H, 3BB, 3K). Zach Dotson had a rough outing in relief, going just a third of an inning, giving up two runs, one earned, on three walks and no hits. Eris Peguero had three of Kingsport’s five hits whole knocking in a run. Gavin Cechhini was 0 for 2 and has a slash line of .258/.303./.355.

Also newsworthy, Darrell Ceciliani left last night’s game with a leg injury. It was just his 4th game back from the DL. He played just 4 games in May before re-re-aggravating the injury he suffered early in April and re-aggravated a couple weeks later..

That’s been the trend lately, Buffalo is spiraling, Binghamton is scuffling, St. Lucie and Savannah are not nearly as good since the ASB, and Kingsport has been flat out awful. However, Brooklyn, as usual, has been great.
