The Mets beat the Dodgers 5-0 tonight at Dodger Stadium.
Why the Mets won:
Johan Santana was dominant, allowing three hits over eight shutout innings.
Why the Dodgers lost:
Nate Eovaldi was ineffective, allowing five runs on seven hits. The Mets knocked him out of the game after just 5.1 innings.
Points of discussion:
- Ike Davis hit a three-run home run in the sith inning to make the game 5-0. The homer was his 13th and his fourth in his last ten games. Ike was 2-for-4 on the night with two runs scored.
- Bobby Parnell came in and tossed a scoreless ninth inning, closing out the Dodgers on just six pitches.
- Daniel Murphy was also 2-for-4. He hit a sac fly in the second to give the Mets a 1-0 advantage.
- The Mets go for the sweep tomorrow with Dillon Gee (5-6, 4.42 ERA) going up against Clayton Kershaw (5-4, 2.74 ERA).

Johan – 1 hit through 7. 8 innings, 3 hits, no runs.
Great game.
Two aces in this starting rotation. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season?
Murphy coming around, Ike with another 3R HR.
Just have to mention it again….Sandy told us this team would be fun to watch. He wasn’t kidding.
I lobby Gee gets us the Sweep tomorrow.

on the farm, havens 3-4 with another HR. He looks to finally be back in the groove.
Going to be real interesting to see what happens with him soon. Just might be going up to Buffalo soon after all?
not sure of course what they are doing with Spin, but I would much rather see Havens playing every day there at 2B. Still think he is a more viable option for the near term.

just checked. Today, Spin played CF, and they are still playing Emaus at 2B.
so yeah, send Havens up! could free them up for a bold move to trade Murphy off he recent hot streak?
or at least protect havens, and make the move in the off season.
