Therefore, Tony La Russa is a drunk racist lawyer. Someone who clearly can’t make a good decision on who should start the All-Star Game.
I would also suggest: hater of all things good, old fart, etc.

This comes as no surprise to me. LaRussa’s comments last week were more or less telling us all he wasn’t starting RA Dickey.
He’d better at least use him in this game. I’ll consider it a cardinal sin if he does not.

The reaction to this is what gives Met fans such a bad name.
Whine about anything and everything at the drop of a hat.
Matt Cain has been among the league’s better pitchers for a lot longer than R.A., and his stats are pretty much identical to Dickey’s this year.

And Cain also leads Dickey in drilling our third baseman in the head lest we forget. Maybe just a bonus for Tony’s selection in Tony’s mind. As far as where the Met’s are concerned I think Tony’s never gotten over Bobby V. managing circles around him back when Ankiel was air mailing pitches to the back stop. Just a subtle opportunity for Tony to get one more dig in. Of all the Pitcher’s to start it had to be Cain with all those other Giants starting? Poetic justice would be if Posey racks up a couple of past balls catching his own SP. As if you couldn’t tell I can’t stand LaRussa.
Seriously though, I’m old and weathered and really don’t care that much. But I think of the kids who are Mets fans and what their disappointment may be. We tend to look at these things through older eyes as no big deal. But when I was a kid I was thrilled when Seaver started an AS game and being pumped about awaiting everything he might do in his appearance representing us. RA’s a great story this year and LaRussa robbed baseball of a special moment in not starting the knuckler. If Tony’s not part of the story it’s just no story to him.

LOL Gee, I didn’t realize Tony was your idol.
I don’t believe Cain was headhunting when he hit Wright. I don’t recall seeing David seek retribution. So if the participants can live without animosity I don’t understand why fans take thing so personally.
And when you were a kid your biggest concern was not being lunch for some Velociraptor. Fortunately for you I hunted them into extinction.

lol, get off my lawn ya damn kids. Yeah, I’m not a big Tony fan. My usual line is: How many of his victories are on the back of a PED infused lineup?

LOL. I guess Google doesn’t like Tony La Russa.
I’m not as upset with this decision as most fans. Yes, it would be nice if R.A. started the game, and he deserves to, but in the end it really doesn’t matter.
I hope he wins 20 games and the Cy Young, and helps his team get into the playoffs. That’s the bottom line.

I couldn’t care less about anything related to the All-Star Game. And Kong is dead on: Mets fans never let an opportunity to whine about something go to waste. What true non-story this is.

It’s fine if some fans don’t care about the ASG and never watch but some of us do enjoy it. I watch it every year.
The ASG is supposed to be the best of the best but it will never be as long as fans participate in the voting process. Case in point Sandavol, Posey, Furcal, Jeter, etc. etc.
Not sure why some Met fans consider it whining when other Met fans express disappoint over the fact that RA Dickey wasn’t selected to start. Personally, I don’t care all that much who starts the game. It’s enough for me that Dickey was selected.
Those selected should be the best of the best this year. What happened last year or years gone by shouldn’t enter into it. Yet another reason the fans should not be voting.

I could really care less about this but Dickey was by far the dominant pitcher in the first half thereby earning the honor. So I feel badly for him, although, RA is probably just shrugging it off. It is a slight.
The hypothetical I’d pose is: If Dickey was one of LaRussa’s players on last years Cards and had this first half this year do you think he’d be starting? Absolutely, no doubt about it in my mind.
The other thing: Had to pick another SF Giant to start? They didn’t stuff the ballot box enough to get their guys in? This is less about me being a whiny Mets fan and more about LaRussa being a complete douche.

Columnist David Lennon in Newsday polled American League players and asked if they would prefer facing Cain or Dickey. Wrote Lennon: It was no question. Every one preferred to hit against Cain.
Yet another reason why it would have been smarter to start RA Dickey in tonight’s game.

where are you going to see the better hitters: starting, or in the first wave of replacement (that would likely be in for dickey?)

7/10/2012-10:17am at 10:17 am (UTC -4)
In the AL you’ll see the better hitters starting.
In the NL, not so much – stupid fans.
I’m not really all bent out of shape that Dickey is not starting. As long as LaRussa uses him, which he’s went on record saying he will, it’ll be fine.
It’s just the reasons LaRussa gave for Cain over Dickey were just so lame. I have gone on record long before yesterday saying I didn’t think LaRussa should even be managing that game. He’s retired. That honor should have went to an active manager.
And yeah…LaRussa was never one of my favorite people.

especially considering they are maintaining the farce of having the ASG decide home field in the WS.
given that, you need to have a manager that at least has some skin in the game! Should have defaulted to whoever managed the team that lost in the LCS to the Cards.
