Another slow night. Kingsport and the Lucies were both rained out, and Brooklyn’s bats seemed to be water-logged. For what it’s worth, the oft-discussed Matt Harvey threw two scoreless innings in the Triple A All Star Game. Let’s get to it….
Savannah 5, Delmarva 3
Jacob DeGrom went five strong innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on two hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out five. Catcher Xorge Carillo went 2 for 4 with a two run homer and three RBI’s on the night. And our old pal Endy was 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Shorebirds. Aderlin Rodriguez went 0 for 4, but did manage to score a run
Connecticut 1, Brooklyn 0
The Cyclones hitting woes continue, as they managed just four hits – which creates a nice symmetry since their losing streak is now at four as well. Julian Hilario stated and deserved a better fate (6IP, 1R, 6H, 0BB, 5K). Phillip Evans and Kevin Plawecki each had a hit in four at bats, and 3B Alexander Sanchez went 2 for 3.

I like this kid, he should be a quick riser as a college kid and his defense is rated as high as his bat. He is already 21 so hopefully he can be a guy contending for a spot within a couple of years. Could be the platoon option for Thole by the end of 2013 if things work well.
One thing about this new system, players are going to be ready sooner as they are signing and playing earlier.
