Last night on the farm both Buffalo and Binghamton won games late while Savannah failed to take advantage of a great Michael Fulmer outing, and the Cyclones played for a long, long time. Let’s get to it:
Buffalo 9, Toledo 8
This was a wild one. Fernando Cabrera blew a 3-run lead in the 9th by letting up 4 runs (no bullpen help coming from him). Fortunately the Herd responded in the bottom of the 9th when Raul Reyes singled home 2 with the bases loaded to give Buffalo a walk-off win. Chris Schwinden struck out 6 and walked none in 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Elvin Ramirez gave up a run in 2 innings of work. Brad Emaus, Zach Lutz, Josh Satin, and Oswaldo Navarro all had doubles. A day after winning a golden sombrero Matt Den Dekker was 1 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s, with just 1 strikeout.
Binghamton 4, Bowie 3, 10 innings
Allan Dykstra doubled home Reese Havens in the top of the 10th and then Robert Carson shut the door in the bottom of the inning to secure the win for the B-Mets. Mark Cohoon started and went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Brad Holt got the blown save after allowing Cohoon’s inherited runners to score. Havens was 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Wilmer Flores (DH) and Jefry Marte (3B) both had 2 hits.
Dunedin 5, St. Lucie 2
Erik Goeddel struck out 8 and walked 1 in 6.1 innings (good) but he also let up 5 runs on 8 hits (bad). The Lucies managed just 5 hits. Rafael Fernandez and T.J. Rivera had doubles.
Rome 2, Savannah 1
The Gnats could not take advantage of another strong performance by Michael Fulmer, who went 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks. Fulmer has been noticeably better in every subsequent month this season and what he’s doing as a 19-year old is nothing short of phenomenal. A Greg Pron double and Cam Maron single were the only hits for Savannah, whose offense is even more pedestrian without Aderlin Rodriguez and Travis Taijeron.
Brooklyn 1, Staten Island 0, 15 innings
After 14 scoreless innings the Cyclones finally broke through in the 15th to get the win. Gabriel Ynoa started and allowed just 1 hit over 6 innings. Then 6 different Cyclone relievers combined for the next 9 innings. Jonathan Clark had 3 hits. Dimas Ponce, Phillip Evans, and Jayce Boyd had 2 hits each. Kevin Plawecki and Brandon Nimmo were both hitless.
The K-Mets were rained out again, which by my count is their 5th in the last 8 days.

terrible.
and I am glad I did not see until later this morning, because my daughter went to a midnight showing last night with some of her friends.
I have to make a note that when I finally move, don’t go to Colorado.

Colorado is beautiful – random wacko’s everywhere. My nephews were in the same school district as Columbine when that happened and they finished the school year with many of the students from Columbine transferred into their school. It was a really rough period for them and the community. Incredible this happened within miles of that tragic event. Very sad.

Saw this story this morning, just saw the news story on TV.
I just cannot wrap my brain around how screwed up some people are in this world. No motive, only an agenda to kill innocent victims. Can’t even go to the g-damn movie theaters anymore.
