- Mets send down Pedro Beato to AAA to make room for Matt “The White Knight” Harvey
- Mets recall Manny Acosta (yea…that guy) from AAA. They have yet to announce a coorosponding move but rumor has it Lucas Duda might be the roster casualty.
Duda has been struggling big time for quite some time now. There will be some in Mets circles that see a possible demotion of Lucas as inconsistent in light of the patience they have exerted with Ike Davis. My reasoning with this potential move is the fact there is no real 1st baseman on the 25 man roster other than Ike and even with his Mendoza line average he was still contributing with his defense. Same apply s to Kirk who also is struggling mightily but he can still made the routine plays in the outfield. Duda is struggling both at the plate and in the field. The real question in my opinion regarding Duda is how this might affect his “confidence”. There was a big deal with this last year and once he felt he belonged, his performance improved with it. I doubt Lucas will take the time to realize there is an abundance of outfielders on the roster right now and the face he is struggling in right is most likely the reason he is being sent down (along with the fact he has options). My real question regarding roster moves and Sandy is with Jason Bay. Sandy has dropped the hammer before (Luis Castillo, Oliver Perez, DJ Carrasco) and im just wondering what is he waiting for. Granted, 16 million is alot but at this point, Jordany Valdespin is contributing more than Jason and is playing a decent left field. I dont know what Sandys plan is but Jason cannot be part of it. Jason has been the consummate professional and gives 100% but at 16 million, we need results and it has flat out not been there.
