And with that said… HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!

Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:

Middle reliever from the ’78 season, Mardie Cornejo is 61 (1951). Cornejo had a record of 4-2 with a E.R.A of 2.45 with three saves on that putrid 1978 Mets team. He would be traded the next off season to the Detroit Tigers for pitcher, Ed Glynn .

One of the best first basemen the Mets ever had, John Olerud is 44 (1968).

The New York Mets traded middle reliever, Ken MacKenzie to the St. Louis Cardinals for middle reliever, Ed Bauta on August 5, 1963.

The New York Mets released utility infielder, Tom Herr on August 5, 1991.Herr was a one time Mets killer during his days as a Cardinal. To bad like most Mets killers – he fizzled when he donned the orange and blue Mets uniform.

Mo Vaughn was up for the leading role in the recent remake of “Total Recall”. The trouble was that he chewed up the scenery !!!
