Last Night on the Farm – 8/13/12

Quiet night on the farm as most teams had the day off.  The Bisons played a snoozer on SNY and Michael Fulmer was on the hill for Savannah.  Let’s take a closer look.

Pawtucket 5, Buffalo 1

Pedro Beato cruised through a perfect sixth inning coming out of the bullpen, but got demolished in the seventh, lowlighted by back to back homeruns by the PawSox.  Colin McHugh went 5.2 innings allowing just one run while striking out six, but allowed three hits and four walks.  The Bisons managed just four hits for the game.  Part of the attraction Buffalo had in signing an affiliate agreement with the Mets was getting games on regional cable and reaching a wider audience to generate buzz.  Judging from the crowd and the game itself, I can see why the powers that be for the Bisons are concerned about their relationship with the Mets not producing the kind of excitement they were hoping for.

Savannah 4, Lexington 3

Michael Fulmer got the start and was OK, but not great in picking up his seventh win (5IP, 1R, 4H, 3BB, 1HBP, 4K).  2B Brandon Brown went 3 for 4 with two RBI to pace the offense.  Things got dicey in the ninth when Chase Bradford walked the bases loaded with nobody out.  TJ Chism came in to walk in a run, but managed to get a key strikeout and a fly out to end the game with the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position.

I watched that Buffalo game on SNY last night.

I see what you mean about generating interest. That stadium was empty.

That game last night might as well have been the big club.
    Empty stadium.
    Solid start by the SP.
    Anemic offense.
    Blown game by the BP.
