Another good SP outing, kept us in the game. Another awful offensive game.
Are we ever gonna win another game this season?

at this point, maybe not.

I didn’t see the game and I doubt if I will torture myself and view most of the games left in this season but based upon the score I would have to say that this team truly reflects its ownership. These are the Wilpons’ Mets and they can keep the damn club.

MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Dodgers and RedSox are nearing an agreement on a major trade. The trade is dependent on some of the players with no trade clauses giving their blessing. The RedSox are starting a complete rebuilding process while the Dodgers will take on a number of high salaried players. So the fans of the Dodgers, a team whose owner was forced to sell by Emperor Selig and the Lords of Baseball, will have a pennant chase to follow while we Mets fans watch pure garbage for the foreseeable future. But be happy we have Fred and Jeff.

odd trade by the Dodgers. they must really, really want a pretty good 1B that is having a bit of a down year this year, because they are taking on some crap (and a 1/4 billion dollars in payroll commitments) to get him!
Crawford seems to be as shot as Bay (well, no one is that bad, but he is not good), and needs Tj surgery I thought. And beckett? maybe I am confusing him with someone else, but I though he was dying off too.
so i guess it is all about getting Punto!

It’s about getting Gonzalez who is still a hell of a talent. Crawford has been injured and is still only 29 and is not done as is Bay. After Crawford signed the big contract he had a down year. If I remember correctly so did Beltran in his first year with the Mets. While I’m not comparing the two talent-wise they feel that Crawford could still be resurrected next year. The trade is all about getting Gonzalez’s bat for the pennant drive. Just because he is having a down year doesn’t mean he’s washed up. If so then Duda must be crap. What they see in Beckett and Punto I have no idea.

The problem for the Dodgers will be in the future when they have what the Mets have now, dead weight on the roster consuming most of the payroll. But it’s all about getting fan interest back in the franchise and taking a shot at the brass ring while it’s there for the taking. If the Dodgers can draw as they did in the past the incoming resources should pay off the huge contracts and still allow them to field a competitive team. I guess they’re trying to emulate the Yankees and like the Yankees the Dodgers are a storied franchise.

I understand it was all about Gonzo. Just seems that they took on a tremendous amount of bad contracts to get him.
seems that it would have been a lot safer to just go after a big FA (are there any?) bat in the off season. At least that way you are only paying through the nose for 1 guy, who is hopefully worth it!
If I got the math right (and not all these guys expire at the same time) they are going to be increasing payroll by about 50mill/year through 2017 on average.
and I never thought the Dodgers really had money issues. Old stadium, long since paid off, still good attendance and a big TV deal. It was Mccourt that had money issues (hence bleeding all the revenue out of the club).

Haha after looking at the pic again I just noticed all the cars leaving and none going in. Awesome! Ho about a zombie in a Mets uniform?

Geez, really Mets? 5 in a row to the dregs of MLB? They may lose the rest of their games this season, the way things are going.
