Buffalo had the night off, which maybe was a good thing, as the four teams in action combined to make TEN errors! And one of main culprits even managed to win! Who was it? Read on…
Binghamton 6, Reading 2
The B-Mets held a steady 3-1 lead for most of this one before rallying for three in the ninth to put it away. Gonzalez German held the Phillies at bay for 7.2 innings allowing a run on seven hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Juan Lagares was 3 for 5 with two RBI and a run scored, while Pedro Zapata was 2 for 4 with an RBI and scored once himself.
Jupiter 2, St. Lucie 1
Taylor Whitnenton gave up a run in the eighth and that was the dagger in the Lucies as the Hammerheads hung on to win. Logan Verret handcuffed Jupiter for seven innings allowing a run on four hits while walking none and striking out four. He didn’t get much help, as the offense could muster a mere four hits in support.
Asheville 6, Savannah 0
The Sand Gnats had six hits and committed five (FIVE!) errors. Do we really need to know more? Ok fine. Miller Diaz started and – while his defense sis not help him at all – he was far too hittable (4.2IP, 6R, 2ER, 7H, 1BB, 8K – he also balked twice). Let’s just move on….
Brooklyn7, Hudson Valley 4
The Cyclones erupted for four in the seventh and two in the eighth to take the first game of this home & home series with the Renegades. Not bad for a team that committed four errors. But whatever the fellas deficiencies in the field were, they made up for it with the bats. Jayce Boyd (2 for 4, 4 RBI, 2 runs scored) homered for his third straight game, Maikais de la Cruz was 1 for 4 with a big two run double, and Gavin Cecchini made his Short Season A debut – coming in a as pinch runner and staying on at DH. He was hit by a pitch in his only at bat and scored twice. With seven games to go, the Cyclones’ lead in the wild card remains two, but they are only four behind Hudson Valley for first place. Incidentally, Batavia, who is trailing Brooklyn for the wild card, is only 1.5 games out of first in their own division.

nice to see Lagares showing some life. I was hoping he would continue his break out from last year with another step up, but he seems to have been erratic this year. Still, seems to have some potential.
Just liked the overall tools, and the fact that he is RH and can play CF. That would certainly come in handy right about now!

Minor leagues winding down, for the most part. Wonder how long before we hear where our triple A team is going to be playing next season?
Should have never left Norfolk. Read an article the other day that put that blame on the Mets FO too, for largely ignoring them.

So are the Cyclones the only Mets minors team with a shot at the playoffs?

Brooklyn is closing in on the wildcard, hopefully they hang on. St. Lucie will be in the FSL playoffs and the DSL Mets2 won their division but lost in the first round of the playoffs.

I’ll look into it SRT. I got the same message but was able to login to room via Mirc and see Ceetar and Metsfan in there so I am guessing it’s something solely on the mibbit side.

There is none srt because it would require downloading and using the Mirc application.
