The Sunday Question

The Braves are on a verge of sweeping the Mets again and Chipper’s got himself a nice present for his son.

Hey, DIY sunday question is back. Always one of my favorite features!

so, to answer some random thoughts:

Yes, it was fine to honor a special player with something, and the painting was a good gesture.

Yes, they screwed up doing it inside. Would have been more appropriate (and I am sure, greatly appreciated) if they had done it outside, so that the few fans there could have boo’d and chanted Larry. The scoreboard operator should also have put up Larry on the big board, not Chipper.

Yes, I still hate the Braves, but only about 1/100th as much as the Phillies.

Yes, they will be just fine next year without him.

Yes, DW would be a nice fit for them, other than costing too much.

Given how much he owns the Mets, they should name a large section of Citi Field in honor of him. While they’re at it, induct him into the team’s hall of fame, cause his offensive performances in Flushing have been more impressive than just about any player in Mets history.

Naming your son after our stadium… you f*&cking piece of shyte. The only honor I want to see the Mets give him is a nice Bobby Parnell fastball in the back to say “thanks for the memories, chump”. The Mets always just gave in to him, always a bunch of pansies. Chipper Jones’ greatness helps to emphasize just what a complete and sad joke this organization has been for far too long, with a couple flash in the pan good seasons thrown in just for good measure.

So, to answer the question… wait, what was the question again?

well, chipper has pretty much the same #s against the rest of the division. You just don’t pay attention to those games.

and since he is one of the best players ever, in the 20 years or so they have been facing him, odds are he is going to have done some damage in big spots!

Im anti-gift giving for opponents. Let alone ceremonies and stufff like that.

And boy oh boy does ATL have some good young pitching. Hopefully this team has the same pitching pipeline established in 2 years time.

certainly if you aren’t able to be a top spender, and have to live with a “measly” 100mill or so payroll, the Braves are the team you want to emulate. the epitome of a self regenerating successful organization.
