I found out the other week that Shannon Forde, the senior director of Mets Media Relations was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. Shannon has been more than than a liaison between myself ( and many other Mets bloggers) and the Mets. Shannon is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is very personable, like able, and always wants to know your viewpoint on anything Mets related.
I consider her a friend in the baseball world, and I am stressing that everyone should make a donation to help her and her family weather the anticpated financial burdens that goes along with this insidious disease.
On November 1 the Mets will host a fundraiser at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park N.J. It will dinner is $100 a plate , and it will be hosted by Mets pitching great, Ron Darling.
The Mets will also host a $250 meet and great with former Mets players, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, John Franco, Bobby Ojeda, Edgardo Alfonzo, Al Leiter, Ed Charles, Ed Kranepool and former New York Football Giant great, Sean Landeta.
