That is a good question. I would think a former Met especially one of the best to come out of our system would always hold a place in Mets history with fans. In that sense you’d think he would be of interest and since he is part of probably the biggest off season trade in some time there would be an interest as well.
“I would think a former Met especially one of the best to come out of our system would always hold a place in Mets history with fans.”
Agreed 100%.
Yes, I will always think his dugout dances for choking teams were juvenile and inappropriate and motivated the Marlins among others, yes I was disappointed in both sides by the end of 2011, but I followed Reyes since he was in the low minors, from 2006–2008 he was an amazing player, and while he is nowhere near the top of my list of all-time Met favorites, I will always have interest in him.
But like Dark, I would like to see Beltran win a ring; not sure I feel that strongly about Reyes winning it all.
I stopped giving even half a crap about Reyes when it became obvious he wasn’t playing 100% after the injury in the second half last year. Paying him large sums of money is counter-productive to the Mets, regardless of sentimental feelings for him. My list of favorite Mets has never included Reyes or Wright, and likely never will, so I get over those players leaving pretty quick. Beltran, on the other hand, I still miss greatly (though trading him was 100% the right thing to do, it hurt).
Personally, I think Met Nation is split about 50-50 just like the nation is split politically.
I think on almost every issue (Wright, Reyes, Dickey, Alderson…) there is tremendously strong feeling on both sides, and a large number of people in both camps.
Mr N., this post and this picture are extremely cool and I think VERY relevant, and I again thank you for continuing to provide such excellent, unique, timely, relevant content here!

Yes, but the point is that it is not at Metsblog/ESPN/Star Ledger/NY Times/etc., and I would never have seen it otherwise.
It is a frigin cool pic. And his kitchen is awfully nice.
I am reinvigorated about this place, and a simple thing like this is exactly what fans want to see.
Please keep it up sir.

BTW kingy I saw your post draft. Wow you definite give readers their money’s worth especially since no money is involved.
I happened to be in the early stages on a post idea that based on what you wrote will read as a opposite view I believe.
If I can succeed in getting the post done the post title will be “Mets Got 99 Problems But Wright Ain’t One”.
I’ll second Kong’s sentiments. There was a period early this offseason where we barely had 1 fresh post to restart our comments on per day, and half the regulars here spent most of their time on MMO/Mattsblog/etc. Great to see almost everyone back (still miss you, Grave), plenty of new content, and even some new commenters.
Now if only the Mets would stop sucking at baseball…

I LOVE Jay-Z and will welcome your opinions!
And thank you Dark, and this WILL continue–please be here every day sir–you are as important as any of us!
Off Topic: News Corporation is on the verge of acquiring up to 49 percent of the YES Network from the Yankees and their partners, according to three people familiar with the negotiations. The purchase price for the noncontrolling stake is based on a valuation of the channel at slightly more than $3 billion.
I may need to officially become a Nets fan. Went to a bunch of games during the Van-Horn Williams era and they were a lot of fun. Family always pushed me towards the Celtics and even though I really enjoyed their last stint it’s still Boston ( have also seen a ton of Celtics games) and I can’t commit to a team in that region. And since Dolan owns the Knicks there are only so many douche owners that have no idea how to run a team I can tolerate.
BTW I am a crazy UCONN/NCAA fan and real casual NBA fan. The Nets may be where it’s at for me now that they are out of Jersey.
The Knicks have started 7-1 and without Isiah Thomas in the mix they may have a competitive team. It took a number of years to undo the mess Thomas brought to the garden. They’re older than dirt and Methuselah is their patron saint but they’re playing a defensive team oriented game and have been fun to watch.
It’s awesome that he took that pick. If I was him I would of been pretty annoyed (not as annoyed as poor Stanton who was left behind). It shows a great attitude and a great start for Toronto fans who don’t know what to make of this trade.
The thing I take away from this picture is the plastic covers on the chairs. Jose, rocking it Granny Style. Really dude, plastic on the chairs? Sigh, weak.
You could buy a new set of chairs every other month till the end of time with your contract and you’ve got the plastic on the chairs, oy.
The chairs are covered so the chickens, goats and pigs can’t destroy the furniture. I know this comment isn’t politically correct but at my age I can just claim senility (also I don’t give a damn).

Am I the only one that really has no interest at all in Reyes at this point?
but if you want a real caption, it should be “I don’t give a crap, because I am still getting paid baby!”

Well there you have it. That is one perspective.
If Reyes was never really one of a Mets fan favorites then it is understandable why a Mets fan would have no interest now.

LOL…I had noticed that too. Reminds me of my grandmother’s house back in the day.
In fact, to each his own with taste but that looks like a small dining room set being used as a kitchen set.
Man, what I could do with my kitchen with all that money…..
