In a post by MLBTradeRumors they quote Mets 3B David Wright to say the following regarding earlier reports from today.
“I have said from Day 1 that I want to play my entire career with the New York Mets. I remain hopeful that goal can be achieved. However, I am disappointed by the reports that I have read today which are inaccurate,”
What specific reports he’s referring to is hard to say but if and when a resolution to these negotiations are reached we may then know. Read the rest of the article as Wright’s agent Seth Levinson is also quoted in it.

Something tells me the agent wants a lid on it seeing the higher it goes the more outrage there is. All about leverage.

Always a damn soap opera with this freaking team and it’s legion of worthless clown beat writers.
I really want the season to start so we can be past all this nonsense…

It’s OK because it’s celebration ale time. Everything in the world is correct once again.

It is by far my favorite beer. Just picked up 2 cases. I will keep drinking it until there is nothing left of it.
Other recent notables were a Allagash 4 Ale. Wasn’t too impressed. I let it sit around for 3 months and it probably could of used another year. Got better as it breathed but pretty stiff. And am also drinking a lot of Smuttynose Porter and Long Trail Double Bag. Good stuff to keep you warm.

Definitely! Love the Smuttynose Porter (actually, most of their beers), and the Double Bag is one of the few Long Trail beers I really like. Sounds like you’ve got a solid lineup to get you through the offseason doldrums.

Been bouncing between Duschuttes Inversion IPA, New Belgium Ranger, Pike’s IPA and Snoqualmie IPA. That, and a different bomber every time I hit the store. Ninkasi’ s Domination Tricerahops (2IPA) are pretty decent too.

Sierra Nevada. One of the most consistently solid breweries out there.

More importantly, today would have been Jimi Hendrix’s 70th birthday. Happy Birthday Jimi! Wherever you are.

Yea it is. I was at a Phish show in ’92 on this day and they did Bold as Love, it was pretty sweet.

Random Music Stuff:
A friend of mine used to do visual background displays and lighting for Phish. Years ago he developed the process and software of having all those multiple screens together and synched to do audio visual stuff. Then he sold the company after he migrated from doing this for bands. This was when they were just getting started.
My Brother In Law’s mom also used to own Cafe Wha when Hendrix would play there before he left for the UK and became famous.
They had a question on some guitar site: “what’s the Hendrix song that influenced you the most?” I took it a little differently from a riff perspective. I went for House Burning Down. However, with the comment of how can you pick just one?

Did you see there’s another Hendrix album coming out of unreleased stuff? Not really sure if it’s unreleased or they’re just billing it that way as most of this stuff has been available on bootlegs for years and on some posthumous releases, but thought I’d share….

so, does this mean that there is still a chance they trade him?
frankly, at this point, what the F is the hold up? just sign him or trade him. Hell, make him the freaking catcher. Just do something definitive so we can move on with life, and planning the rest of the off season (oh wait, I forgot, they are done. scratch that last part).

Alright I’ll play baseball comment stuff, imo:
They are going to trade him. This is about poisoning the negotiating pool to cause hard feelings in advance of the Winter Meetings and then they trade him and say, “we tried, we offered a -fill in the fictional amount- and he wanted more”. So the stirrings today irk Team David in 2 ways:
1. They probably never offered the amount they are talking about so it will tick them off, and
2. They leaked information when he wanted negotiations confidential, which will tick them off. Thereby leaving them in the position to:
Enter the Winter Meetings with the need to trade David to any interested parties since it looks like they won’t be able to sign him for the fictional amount they never offered and they’ll portray his demands as unreasonable to try to give them cover when they pull the trigger.
It’s almost too obvious, imho.

talk about naive. These things never stay completely under cover.
if he wants this done, just plop a final, non-negotiable offer on the table, and tell the team to take it or they are done and not signing anything, so trade him if that is what they want.
or stopping being a whiny teenager, and go on the offensive! play the negotiating game baby!
frankly, you can’t have it both ways, and get top $/years beat everyone contract, and also pretend to be not interested in money and pure as the driven snow!

Thanks Stick. This team and its management is so frustrating. I honestly bought that crap they were trying to sell when Sandy came aboard. That they’d actually build through the draft and make wiser business decisions. Instead, they throw unneeded money at crappy relievers last year (Francisco, Rauch) and are about to sign Wright to a huge deal, which will lock up a great percentage of the payroll to one guy AGAIN. Look, if Wright was 26 or 27, I could handle this kind of a move. But he will be 31 when the extension takes hold, meaning we’ll probably get 2-3 peak years from him if that. (It can be argue he peaked at 23 or 24 but that’s another post). Now they’ll go bargain basement shopping for outfielders, when trading Wright could have landed them a nice young outfielder and possibly a catcher and another piece. Just don’t understand it.

this was too detailed and definitive, with a few different people reporting, to be just made up crap thrown on the wall.
obviously something funky behind it (which usually is info planted for a specific reason), but it had to be put out there for some purpose.
