ESPN is reporting that Randy St. Claire is expected to be named the Mets new AAA pitching coach joining Wally Backman in Las Vegas and replacing former pitching coach Mark Brewer. It was reported by Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger that according to people with knowledge of the situation Brewer was let go due to “a disconnect between the practices of the Triple-A pitching staff and the organization’s prescribed pitching program.”
St. Claire was mentioned to have met with the Mets during the Winter meeting in Nashville about a minor league role. St. Claire was the Marlins pitching coach for the last 3 seasons until he was let go this past off season. Before that he served as the Nationals pitching coach for 6 seasons.

stick, our resident warthen hater, should like this because st. claire could certainly be a suitable replacement.
no one could like this news, however: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/59722/mets-may-be-done-adding-in-outfield?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

I always expected Capt Kirk to get 1st crack at CF but I can’t envision the Mets with the current outfield choices.
I figured Duda would still get at least a shot at LF because of his power potential but I expected an addition to be a right fielder.
It would be a bad decision IMO if they leave the OF choices as they currently are.

“it’s conceivable the Mets actually will not add an outfielder”
That’s not news, that’s speculation by a source for a hack writer. Nothing to get even remotely worked up over, though I have my own doubts about further additions to the team.

I’d be real curious what that ‘disconnect between the practices of the Triple-A pitching staff and the organization’s prescribed pitching program’ was all about.
