The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) is in it’s Round Robin portion of it’s playoffs. The Round Robin consists of 4 top teams of the regular season playing 18 games each where the 2 teams with the best record move on to a series finale with the winner winning the National title.
The 4 teams this season are the Aguilas Cibaeñas, Leones del Escogido, Toros del Este and the Estrellas Orientales.
The good thing about the LIDOM is that they have done a good job for the most part of making their game streams available via the internet for those looking to watch some baseball.
The remaining Round Robin schedule is as follows:

- Aguilas (10-6) @ Estrellas (5-11) 7:00 EST

Tuned into the Escogido (9-6) @ Estrellas (4-11) 7:00 EST in the 7th. It was 6-4. Then 7-4.
Escogido made it close in the 9th with a 2R HR 7-6 but Valdespin grounded out for the final out for Escoogido, which gave Estrellas the 7-6 win.
I don’t speak the language so can only go by what I’m seeing and the graphs they put up.
But Blanco, Tatis, Spin…it’s like old home week.

I only caught from the 7th inning on so I missed Figgy. 5 runs in 4 innings? That’s the Figgy we remember…..
I’m glad at least they put the players stats/graph up when they change pitchers or the batter comes up so I can see the name. But with the batters they didn’t do it until the second pitch. If the batter swung at the first one and connected I had no idea who he was. LOL.

BTW, Valdespin with tonight’s game where he went 1 for 4 with a walk has hit safely in all 16 games of the LIDOR Round Robin.

Spin top of 1st with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out allowed a base hit to him bounce off what looked like the heel of his glove past him allowing runners to advance to 2nd and 3rd and just 1 run scoring due to ball getting wedged it seems under the fence. The pitcher got out of inning leaving runners stranded.
If Leones win they clinch and advance to series championship.

Sometimes it’s best not to know the language. Many years ago I was vacationing in Puerto Rico when I spied an incredibly beautiful, blonde haired, blue eyed girl wearing what seemed to be an extremely expensive outfit with jewelry to match. Being the fool that I am I approached her and she gave me this Cheshire cat smile which I returned. Much to my dismay she could only speak Spanish and I only English (after a fashion that is). As I called over to a friend that could speak both languages to inform her that the language of love would suffice this dude, dressed in what had to be a handmade suit, comes along and kisses her and she goes off with him. The man had two armed body guards with him. Later I learned that he was a notorious gangster and had I gone off with her I probably would have disappeared never to be seen again. I was saved by my linguistic ignorance.

Spin in the 4th leading off tried to bunt for a hit and bunted the ball too hard toward 1st base but his speed allowed him to beat the throw to 1st for his 30th hit in the past 17 games of the series.

Wow Leones down 3-0 bot 8th rally back for 4 runs 3 off the bat of their 1b who hit a 3 run shot and give them a 4-3 lead. Still no outs and Valdespin due up next.
If Leones win they will clinch and move on to championship round vs the Aguilas.

Leones won. They will defend their title in a rematch vs last years opponent the Aguilas for the championship.
I believe it’s a best of 9 series with Game 1 on Friday.
