Well, one slight problem here is that Duda is absolutely not capable of being an MLB first baseman, and he also is a very bad outfielder.

duda was drafted as a 1b i believe which he is much better at .. lets not forget also that redsox had manny ramirez in LF who was a butcher in his own right defensively

He’s not much better at 1B—he’s pretty awful there too.
And Manny Ramirez was one of the best hitters of his era.
Not a real good argument there.

Duda is atrocious at first base. Even Ron Darling made reference to Duda’s lack of athleticism, quickness and dexterity. When playing first base Duda on a few occasions tripped over his own two feet and crawled to the base. Forget the numbers in this case. Duda is the worst first baseman I’ve seen since Marvelous Marv Throneberry. However, like Throneberry Duda can be entertaining if you’re in the mood for a good laugh.
If the Sox want him by all means trade him.

he’s functional enough at 1B to get by, if he does what he should be capable of with the bat.

You mean strike out and not hit 40 homers? I think he’s very capable at those things.

Do they have a surplus of OFs?

Ryan Kalish would be a nice get for Duda. He’s a lefty but a solid player.

It’s a pleasure to witness a quality organization at work. They too had to go through a period of detoxification after Omar (while they were the Montreal Expos).

Watching the Mariners SportSpyder feed and so far fans are not liking this trade.
@LookoutLanding
This trade is brutal. Just brutal. Can’t even pretend to rationalize it. Been a while since one of these.
@CrawfordChrisV
Awful trade. Love you, Jack but I don’t get it.
@shannondrayer
So is Montero going to catch 162?
@MonkeyWithAHalo (Angels)
When will GMs realize that whenever Billy Beane jumps into your trade talks, it is because he knows you are about to do something dumb?

too bad our team has a limit of 1 move per year, and they already used it up.
maybe MLB charges a trade fee like some fantasy leagues, and the Mets can only afford one $5 hit?
but,no surprise they traded Morse. that seemed to be a given when they signed Laroche.

Mets don’t have many legit trade chips, and the ones they have the fans would revolt over trading. Pretty fucked up situation.

Lucas Duda is one of the shittiest “MLB players” ever. He’s one of the most atrocious defenders I’ve seen in over two decades and will never live up to the Ceetarian expectation of 35-40 homers (unless he’s playing in Siberia). He sucks. Get it through your heads.

What are they trying to trade him for a bag of diamond dust? Are things that bad that we have to trade our crappy players for field materials. Oy Ve.
