    3. Mets fans had better sit down before they read the rest of this passage. But our voters thought Oliver Perez — yep, THAT Oliver Perez — was worthy of multiple best-buy votes this winter. He cost the Mariners only $1.5 million, which would be $34.5 million less than the Mets paid him to entertain them from 2009 to ’11. But who knew he’d find his niche as a left-handed bullpen weapon whose forte is chewing up right-handed hitters? Correct answers: (A) Not us, and (B) not Art Howe.

what the hell does Art howe have to do with it?

and Ollie did not pitch that many innings, so let’s at least see if it is repeatable!

but, to me, this puts the nail in the Warthen coffin. because IIRC, the big change was Seattle got him to land straight (not the ridiculous falling off to the side) which is waht fixed his control. He always had “stuff”, just no idea where it was going most of the time. Well, seems he finally found a pitching coach that understood how mechanics and landing/release point (and follow through) contribute to that!

I’ve given up trying to figure out why Warthen is still the pitching coach.

This is like the 3rd or 4th mention in an article that I’ve read concerning Gibson’s D’Backs – and the type of player he wants on his team.

I can’t stand Gibson for obvious reason (re: ’88).
Nothing I’m reading about him as manager makes me change my mind on that.

    “personality cleanse’?
I hope this comes back to bit ‘em in the ass.
