    Nice!

–What are your thoughts on Backman replacing Collins? If not Wally who should be Met manager in 2014?

–What do you think of the recent talk of Johan and how in shape he was coming into camp? Do you feel that a player who has earned $45M the last two years for 21 starts and 6 wins (with $31M more coming this year) owes the team and the fans a 100% effort during the entire offseason even if he is burned out?

–What do you think the Blue Jays do this year? 95 wins and the postseason or a mismatched group a la the 2012 Marlins?

–Who will be the Mets’ opening day outfielders and how will they do?

–How good IS Daniel Murphy? A good-hitting, decent fielding 2B as his supporters insist, or a weak bench player who should not be starting?

–Have you started to listen to hip hop yet? If not why not?

      Good questions.

      I’ll be listening in.

  2. Stick

I will listen later when I have speakers.

But I think it would be more effective if you did it with a giant Cheech and Chong dooby fired up. A dummy prop of course…

Kong and Rusty can record a theme song. Perhaps Simon and Garfunkel “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” :-)

    Here’s a question.

If the knee injury Kirk suffered today is serious and removes him from the OD OF mix, does it mean that MDD just got a shot to learn on the ML job?

    1. Mr North Jersey

I’d say he may have moved up but it’s hard for me to say how they view MDD over say Spin as far as the outfield spots.

      1. Stick

if I am going with one of them “all in”, probably should be Dekker, since at least you know you will get something passing for GG defense out there.

spin next to Duda could be an adventure. and not in a good way.

        1. Mr North Jersey

All things being equal yea I’d go with MDD.

Can’t see MDD having a prayer. He’s got 6 whiffs in 12 at bats and he’s not the guy facing Strasburg.

They could play Cowgill and Byrd every day (and maybe that’s the best way to go regardless of Kirk’s health).

I would think Valdespin has the best shot to take Kirk’s roster spot. He is already on the 40 man, is versatile and can be a good bat off the bench. The way Kirk is going so far, it doesnt seem he is remotely capable of holding a starting or platoon position anyway. Maybe Valdespin wins a job by default.

While Spring stats are generally meaningless, it is a bad sign that he can’t make contact when the pitchers are usually behind the hitters.

          2. gategem

Over the years I’ve seen ballplayers take their hitting woes to the field. MDD is so incredibly overmatched at the plate that playing him in the majors could destroy his career.

          3. srt

            Agree with Wanny here.

Oh Ed. You’ll come into your own like a caterpillar does. Lol. Kill the cheesy bumper music. Lead in is fine.

Mets Q: If you could replace a current regular with a 1969 player and another with a 1986 player who would they be & why.

Personal Q: boxers or briefs ( on reflection – skip this one)

    1. Stick

well, if he is doing the show in shorts with the right camera angle you won’t have to ask.

If you can replace a current Mets player with a member of the 1927 Yankees who would it be? Now remember all members of the 1927 Yankees are dead. :-)

  5. Mr North Jersey

Off Topic: I came across this from DiComo.

    Worth noting

The Mets signed 29 pre-arbitration players to one-year contracts, the team announced Sunday. Among them were top prospects Travis d’Arnaud, Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey.

So does this mean they bought out one of the arb years?

    1. Stick

no. these are the guys that the team controls, and can offer them anything basically and the player has to sign it.

same situation as Trout. which I found hysterical when his agent got all pissy about it.

arbitration still starts at the same time it was going to for them.

      1. gategem

        Thank you for that clarification.

  6. wanny

I have one question for you, Rusty: What the heck was that?!?!

    ;)

  7. darknova306

    Excellent, Rusty!

  8. Media Goon

None of these questions to Ed will be answered unless they are sent to me at mediagoon@gmail.com.

Thanks for the interest in the show.
