World Baseball Classic, Dickey and Wright In Action

Tonight marks the opening night for team USA in this season’s World Baseball Classic. Team USA will be facing team Mexico at 9PM EST on the MLB Network,  R.A. DIckey will throw for the USA and will face off against Milwaukee Brewer Yovani Gallardo.

The WBC first round 65 pitch limit for starters will limit Dickey’s outing but it will be nice to see him back on the mound. David Wright will  also be manning the hot corner for team USA.

Watch and enjoy some meaningful early March Baseball.

Wright is being Wright. Dickey is being a typical knuckleballer.

Huh, who could have seen this coming?

    David Wright doing us proud!

Oh dear, a forthcoming Oliver Perez appearance!

did you catch the retrospective? Nice to know that he kills the USA in general. All this time, I thought he just killed Met fans.

        Good Ol’ Ollie P.

Geez, the USA could be winning if they had some pitching. That old man that started was kind of sucky, wasn’t he?

    1. Boomer

      Yes, yes he was.

      Was that not obvious?

The USA couldn’t find someone who threw faster than 70? Very disappointing!

I’ve been told by my betters that CY winners never lose. Ever.

What’s happening tonight just might rip a hole in the time continuum.

        Hold me.

    Just got in.

    Don’t like this score.
I guess Dickey didn’t fare too well, huh?

Only Team USA RBI so far is Wright’s?
That and I believe I just heard that USA has stranded 16 guys. Yikes!

Dickey got hit hard. Wright and Mauer are the only two US hitters who have gotten the job done.

well, that is what happens when they USA outsources such an important job to a Canuck.

Well, Roma blew it yesterday so here’s hoping he does the same again today here in the 9th.

        Well, not to be.

Must win game for Team USA tomorrow night?

        1. Stick

something like that, but honestly, I am paying no real attention.

          Must win!

    World Baseball Snoozefest.

it is kind of like tuning into a random college game. Odd uniforms and baseball that looks slightly off.

I tuned in to the mlb network and they were showing highlights of some of the games. It does appear as if the foreign born players get more excited for their national team than the professional team that pays them for a living. It was the same in hockey when the NHL interrupts their season so the players can play in the Olympics. I guess when they play for their country they actually care.

baseball players really are just highly paid working stiffs like the rest of us (without the highly paid part of course).

      1. Darknova

Precisely. Romanticize it all we want, these guys are still employees doing a job.

        1. Boomer

I defy anyone to watch Mariano Rivera’s press conference and tell me all of these guys are just working stiffs.

Sure, there are some who are just milking it for a check. But the good ones, the great ones, do it first and foremost because they love the game.

          1. Stick

still, when it gets to be September and you are on the Astros, or it is just a ST game, you are going through the motions

          2. Boomer

Life is about money if we’re gonna get all philosophical and stuff. And sure, the guys like to get paid and it has changed the game to a large degree.

But its still a game and if you don’t love it the game will spit you out no matter how talented you are.
