allstatelogotopTonight's Post Game is brought to you by Allstate.   You're in good hands with Allstate. With a 1-run lead entering the bottom of the 9th inning, the Mets brought in closer Francisco Rodriguez and his perfect 16 for 16 save record to close out the game.   With 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd, he induced Alex Rodriguez to pop up to short right field.   ARod slammed his bat down in disgust and jogged dejectedly toward 1st base as the baserunners Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira dutifully circled the bases while Met second baseman Luis Castillo drifted awkwardly under the pop fly. Then in typical Met fashion, as Castillo attempted a one-handed catch the ball bounced off of his glove and as he picked it up and threw it to second base for no apparent reason, Jeter and Teixeira scored to give the Yankees the come from behind victory, handing KRod his first blown save and loss of the season, and the New York Yankees a 9-8 victory over the New York Mets.see-saw-fat-guyThe game was a seesaw affair.   The lead changed hands 6 times.   A Robinson Cano solo homer gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning.   In the top of the 3rd the Mets took the lead 2-1 by sending 8 batters to the plate but not getting a hit.   That inning featured 2 hit batsmen and 3 walks.   In the bottom of the 3rd the Yankees took the lead back on a 2-run homer by Teixeira. The Mets took their biggest lead in the top of the 5th when Ryan Church doubled in Carlos Beltran and David Wright, then Gary Sheffield drove in Church with a 2-run homer down the left field line, making the score 6-3.   The Yankees got 1 run back on a solo homer by Jeter in the bottom of the 5th, then took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the 6th on a 3-run blast off the bat of Hideki Matsui.   The Mets tied the game at 7 on a double play ground out by pinch hitter Fernando Tatis in the top of the 7th.Lucky winnerMariano Rivera came on with 2 outs in the top of the 8th in a tie game to face Beltran.   He promptly walked Beltran, then Wright followed with a clutch RBI double and Met fans celebrated.   But it was not to be as Castillo didn't use 2 hands in the bottom of the 9th.   Tomorrow doesn't get any better for Met fans as those of us who watch the games on TV must suffer through Fox broadcasters Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.Box score courtesy
