More of the Mets 2009 Draft class saw their first professional action Monday night for the Brooklyn Cyclones as they took on the Hudson Valley Renegades.   Lance Hoge (36th round, pick 1094), a left handed pitcher out of Kansas State University, pitched a scoreless inning of relief.   Former Stanford University outfielder Joseph August (20, 614) got his first start, playing CF and batting 9th, and he went 1 for 3 with a single.   James Schroeder (33, 1004) out of Southern Arkansas University started at 3B batting 8th but was hit by a pitch in his only plate appearance in the 3rd inning, then left the game an inning later.Schroeder smiles long before being hit by pitchAlex Gregory (17, 524) started his 2nd consecutive game in LF and had a single in 4 at bats.   Sam Honeck (11, 344), the veteran of the bunch, has started all 3 games playing 1B and batting 3rd.   Honeck went 3 for 4 last night and is batting .444 at this early point in the season.   Unfortunately Honeck made his 1st error of the season but it did not impact the scoring as the Renegades defeated the Cyclones 3-2.   Other draft picks have been assigned to the Kingsport Mets of the rookie level Appalachian League who play their first game of the season tonight.Follow these links for a full recap and box score of the game.
