Gulf Coast League
  • The GCL Astros defeated the GCL Mets 4-1 Saturday.   3 players drafted in 2009 took part.   C Nelfi Zapata had a rare 0 for 4 night lowering his season batting average to .340.   Chase Greene pinch ran and scored in the 7th inning.   He walked in his only plate appearance.   RF ZeErika Hall had 3 singles in 4 at bats, one of them driving in Greene for the GCL Mets only run.   For more see the box score and recap.   The GCL Mets are currently in 2nd place, 2 games out of 1st with a record of 12-9 in the GCL East division.
Appalachian League
  • The Kingsport Mets crushed the Greeneville Astros 15-5 Saturday.   4 members of the class of '09 participated and 2 of them flexed their homer muscles.   SS Ryan Mollica singled and scored in the 2nd inning, and hit a sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning, finishing the game 1 for 4.   LF John Semel drove in Mollica in the 2nd on a ground out.   He hit a 5th inning single, then in the 6th Semel walked and stole his 6th base of the season.   He wound up 1 for 4.   DH Kurt Steinhauer hit a solo homer, his 1st, leading off the 4th.   He added a 5th inning RBI single and a 9th inning single to finish 3 for 5 and is now batting .417 in 5 games since being promoted from the GCL.   CF Darrell Ceciliani doubled and scored in the 4th, then hit a 3-run homer, his 2nd, in the 5th.   See the box score and recap for more.   Despite the win the K-Mets find themselves in 5th (last) place in the APP West division with an 8-16 record, 10.5 games out.
New York-Penn League
  • The Brooklyn Cyclones showed the Auburn Doubledays just who invented baseball by whipping them 11-3 Saturday.   The Cyclones hit 4 homers in the game, but none were hit by 2009 draftees.   P Brandon Sage threw a 1-2-3 7th inning, then gave up a double and an RBI single in the 8th.   He finished his 2 innings allowing those 2 hits and the 1 run, while recording 2 strikeouts.   Lance Hoge allowed just a walk in a scoreless 9th inning.   3B Joseph Bonfe came on to play LF in the 9th but no batted balls made it to left that inning.   He did not appear at the plate.   SS Robbie Shields went 0 for 4 and has started his pro career 1 for 14.   1B Sam Honeck singled and scored in the 4th, hit a 3-run double in the 5th and singled in the 7th to go 3 for 5.   Honeck is batting .337 in 23 games.   See the box score, recap and game story for more.   The Cyclones are in 1st place in the McNamara division with a record of 20-9, 2.5 games ahead of 2nd place Hudson Valley.
