- The Greeneville Astros edged the Kingsport Mets 10-9 Monday. 5 players drafted by the Mets this June played for Kingsport. John Semel pinch-hit with 1 out in the 9th inning and struck out to go 0 for 1. C John Freeman went 0 for 4 at the plate and 0 for 1 in throwing out baserunners attempting to steal. DH Kurt Steinhauer had an 8th inning walk as part of his 0 for 4 game. CF Darrell Ceciliani reached on a fielder's choice in the 7th inning and came around to score. In the 9th inning he walked and scored, winding up the game 0 for 4. LF Ronald Harris had a big night for the K-Mets. In the 1st inning he hit a 2-run homer (his 2nd). In the 6th inning he singled as part of his 2 for 5 game at the plate, and on defense in the 5th inning he threw out a baserunner at 3B. For more see the box score and recap. - The Brooklyn Cyclones beat the Aberdeen IronBirds 3-2 in 14 innings Monday. 4 2009 draftees played for the Cyclones. OF Nick Santomauro went 0 for 6 with 3 strikeouts. 1B Sam Honeck had an RBI ground out in the 8th as part of his 0 for 4 night. Alex Gregory started the game in LF and finished it at 1B. At the plate he had a 7th inning single and 2 walks during a 1 for 4 game. SS Robbie Shields singled in the 5th and again in the 14th, when he eventually scored the winning run of the game on a wild pitch. He also made his 1st 2 errors of the season, both throwing. - The Savannah Sand Gnats beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers 13-7 Monday. 2 members of the 2009 draft class played for Savannah. LF Joseph August broke out of his season long slump. August singled and scored in the 3rd inning. In the 5th inning he hit a 2-run homer (his 1st). Later that same inning he walked with the bases loaded to drive in a run. August capped his big night with a 9th inning sacrifice fly. John Church pitched the last 2 innings. He allowed no runs on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 2.
