Gulf Coast League
  • The GCL Mets allowed the GCL Marlins only 1 hit in beating them 5-1 Saturday.   The 2009 draft class was represented by 3 players.   RF Chase Greene walked leading off the 7th inning.   He stole 2nd and 3rd for his first 2 stolen bases of the season and scored on the catcher's throwing error trying to get him out at 3rd.   He was 0 for 4 for the game.   C Nelfi Zapata singled in the 2nd and walked in the 4th as part of his 1 for 3 game.   1B Travis Ozga walked in the 4th, then in the 8th he singled and stole 2nd and 3rd which gives him 3 stolen bases for the season.   He finished the game 1 for 3.   For more see the box score and recap.
Appalachian League
  • The Johnson City Cardinals edged the Kingsport Mets 6-5 in 10 innings Saturday.   3 players from the 2009 draft saw action for the K-Mets, and unfortunately 1 of them lost the game.   P Brian Needham (1-3) pitched 2 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 2.   1B Joseph Bonfe was hit by a pitch in the 2nd inning and singled in the 4th inning to go 1 for 4.   CF Darrell Ceciliani walked in the 7th, stole 2nd & 3rd for a total of 11 steals on the season, then scored.   He finished the night 0 for 4.   See the box score and recap for more.

  • The Jamestown Jammers beat the Brooklyn Cyclones 2-1 in 13 innings Saturday.   The game was scoreless after 9 and both teams scored 1 run in the 10th before the Jammers got the winner in the 13th.   3 2009 draftees played and 1 of them got the loss.   P Brandon Sage (2-1) allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in 4 innings on 7 hits and 4 walks.   The unearned run came in the 13th when Sage made an errant pick off throw allowing a runner to go from 1st to 3rd.   That runner later scored.   SS Robbie Shields was 0 for 5.   1B Sam Honeck walked in the 11th inning and went 0 for 4.   For more see the box score and recap.
