For the second time in the series, Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a homerun to lead off the game.  Say what you will about Nieuwenhuis, but for a guy that’s been in the majors and is probably looking forward to a September call up, he has remained focus on the 51s playoff chase even knowing he’s headed for New York as soon as it’s over.  After throwing 3 scoreless innings, Aaron Harang gave up 2 runs in the 4th inning, but a double by Jamie Hoffman and a single by Rylan Sandoval tied the game at 2 after 4 innings.  However, Harang gave up a solo homer in the 5th and Justin Hampson allowed a runner he inherited from Rob Carson to score in the 7th to put Vegas behind 4-2.  Back to back doubles by Ruben Tejada and Mike Baxter in the 8th inning cut the deficit to 1 run, but the 51s stranded the tying run on 3rd base in the 9th inning, ending the series and the season.

Of the 4 teams in the postseason, Savannah is the only team that remains.  They are back in action on Monday night.
