Once again, after a bold statement about rain in the minors, two Mets affiliates have issues with the weather:Buffalo 1, Pawtucket 1 Top of the 9thWith Boof Bonser done for the year, and the Mets stealing two of the Bisons regular starters, Chris Schwinden got the promotion from Binghamton and struck out 9 while allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Not a bad AAA debut for a guy who isn’t a strike out pitcher and doesn’t throw particularly hard. Taylor Tankersley, Jose De La Torre, and Justin Hampson shut down the Paw Sox the next 3 innings. Zach Lutz drove in the Bisons only run of the game in the 7th to tie the game at 1, with Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Justin Turner, and Ruben Tejada also getting hits. Nieuwenhuis will lead off the top of the 9th at 1:05 today as they complete this game before starting their scheduled game.New Hampshire at Binghamton PPDSt. Lucie 5, Charlotte 4St. Lucie has won so many consecutive games it’s getting difficult to count that high. For they record, they’ve won 8 straight. Collin McHugh pitched 5 shutout innings, but didn’t get the win after Nick Carr blew the save, although all 4 runs were charged to Darrin Gorski. Carr has a 1.35 ERA and a WHIP less than 1 in 6.2 innings thus far. Ronny Paulino went 0-3 and Jason Bay 1-2. Juan Centeno drove in 2 runs after taking over for Paulino, including the run in the bottom of the 9th that won the game. Matt Den Dekker, Wilmer Flores, and Pedro Zapata each had 2 hits, with Den Dekker hitting a triple.Savannah 6, Greenville 5 14 inningsErik Goeddel started and had en erratic 3 innings: walking 4, striking out 6, but only surrendering 1 run on a solo homer. Angel Cuan gave up 2 more runs, 1 earned in 4 innings of work piggy backing Goeddel. The rest of the bullpen went 7 innings giving up just 2 runs and striking out 9. Sam Honeck continues to make a bid for Ike Davis’ job with 3 hits including a pair of doubles and 3 RBI’s; he is tearing up the Sally with a .457 average. Cory Vaughn and Albert Cordero also doubled for the Gnats, although Vaughn also struck out 3 times. With 2 outs in the 14th, Javier Rodriguez and Wilfredo Tovar hit back-to-back doubles to win the game. On a sour note, Aderlin Rodriguez was hitless in 6 at bats and is now batting .086.
