Las Vegas had the day off and Binghamton was rained out, so it was just the two a-ball teams in action; let’s see what happened:
Palm Beach 3, St. Lucie 1
Gabriel Ynoa allowed 3 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings, walking none and striking out 4. Paul Sewald threw 2 shutout innings; he has thrown 9.2 shutout innings to begin the season. The Lucies had just 5 hits. Brandon Nimmo was 0 for 4, dropping his average to .360.
Savannah 3, Delmarva 2
Ricky Knapp struck out 8 in 5 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and 1 walk. Akeel Morris followed with 3 shutout innings, striking out 3, allowing 2 hits and 1 walk; Morris has thrown 11.2 scoreless innings to start the season, striking out 19. Robert Coles pitched a scoreless 9th inning to pick up the save. The Gnats had just 4 hits, but 2 of them were doubles by Matt Oberste and the others were triples by Victor Cuzado and Colton Plaia. Plaia and Dominic Smith each drove in a run.
